Power League #1

Sunday was not the U16 Blue team's best day of volleyball.  Whether it was the recently full moon or the early start to drive down to the venue, the entire team was a bit "off".  That said, this was still a great "team" of girls.  Even with things not going their way, there was no finger pointing nor any poor attitudes.  All girls seemed to recognize and accept responsibility for their own mistakes and were encouraging to teammates to keep playing hard.  This was especially apparent when the team was playing WVBA-16's in the first round of tournament play.  After losing the first game 25-12, the team rallyed and won the second game 27-25.  They kept battling and won the match, 15-11 in the third game.

In the final match of the day, Lake dropped a back and forth single game to 25 to South Hill to finish 5th in the flight.

The U16 Blue team will be in Flight 2 again for the next Power League tournament and will look to bring that same fight and positive attitude to the next round.  GO LAKE!

The Lake 16 Blue team did not look like a group of girls who were largely a newly formed team. The cohesiveness and camaraderie shown by all girls along with encouragement and obvious desire to be on the court playing with and supporting their teammates was great to see. The coaches did an excellent job of keeping the girls engaged and focused on the task at hand, especially late in the day when energy levels were flagging. This was especially apparent in the first game against Sabotage where Lake came out with good energy in the last match of the day and Sabotage was a bit flat. Looking forward to a fun season of volleyball - GO LAKE!
