Monica 2013

Monica Vandegrift: U12-1 Head Coach

Lake Volleyball Club Board Member

IMPACT certified

This is Monica’s 5th year on staff with Lake VBC. She has 3 years experience working with our U12 age group and one year as the U14 National Assistant who placed 9th in our region.  Monica played 2 years at the College of San Mateo (CSM) in Northern California, as a Red side hitter and a Middle Blocker, and went on to Arizona State University to play for one season.  Her coaching career began in 1979 as an assistant coach at CSM for one year, and coached the JV team at Palos Verdes High School in Southern California for 3 years.   For 10+ years she played on women’s and on coed USAV teams. Her coed team went to Nationals twice, in Las Vegas and Dallas.  During the day she currently works for the LSSD as a Para-Educator.  She has been married for 24 years and has 3 very active kids Alan (WSU), Lorin (UW), Emily (LSHS).  She enjoys working with kids and has an everlasting passion for volleyball.    

Tim 2013

Tim Dahlquist: U12-1 Assistant Coach

IMPACT certified

This will be Tim’s first year officially on staff with Lake although he has been volunteer assisting with our U12’s as the parent liaison and scorekeeping trainer for the last 2 years.  Tim fell in love with the sport of Volleyball 4 years ago while watching his daughter play at the local B&G club has not looked back since.  Tim is looking forward to a great season with the U-12 Team.

Emily A II 2013-1

Emily Aikins: U12-2 Head Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Emily’s 2nd year on the Lake coaching staff.  Emily has been playing volleyball for 9 years.  As a player she has played for Washington Volleyball Academy, Northshore Juniors Volleyball Club, and Sudden Impact Volleyball Club.  She has had wonderful coaching along the way and has played at a highly competitive level as a Libero, setter,  right side hitter and outside hitter.  She is a 4 year letter on her Varsity volleyball team at Monroe High School playing multiple positions including Libero and OH.  She has attended Stanford’s advanced setter’s camp, as well as camps at UW, U of O, and WWU, and the Regional High Performance Camp.  Her future includes attendance at a 4-year college in Education, and to continue to grow as a volleyball coach.  She looks forward to having the opportunity to have a positive impact on the players she is fortunate enough to work with this club season.  Emily is a very gifted coach for her age and brings an unexpected wisdom to the court for our athletes and families.

Savannah II 2013

Savannah Schedin: U12-2 Assistant Coach

IMPACT Certified

Savannah has been playing volleyball since the third grade, played club volleyball for five years and helped as an assistant coach with the U12 Regional team at Lake Volleyball Club last year. She has been a recreational team head coach with Snohomish Youth Volleyball for two  years. Savannah is a junior at Snohomish High School and played on their team as a defensive specialist. She hopes to teach kids not only the love of volleyball but also life lessons. Savannah is looking forward to building relationships with the team and passing on the volleyball skills she has acquired.? Savannah has been playing volleyball since the third grade, played club volleyball for five years and helped as an assistant coach with the U12 Regional team at Lake Volleyball Club last year. Mati 2013

Mati Bishop: U13-1 Head Coach, Assistant Hitters Coach
IMPACT Certified, CAP I certified, Regional HP Coach

This will be Mati’s second year with Lake Volleyball Club. His volleyball coaching experience includes Head Coach for Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, Varsity Coach at Renton High School, Coach and Director of The Rainier Volleyball Academy, and various coaching duties and age groups with Dash Pt. Juniors and Northwest Juniors.  In 2010 Mati earned the Emerald City League Coach of the Year. Mati also has experience as a certified fitness trainer and studied athletic fitness training with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. 

Derik 2013

Derik Stratton: U13-1 Assistant

IMPACT Certified

This will be Derik’s 2nd season on staff with Lake VBC and was the assistant coach on our very successful U12 Blue team who ranked #5 in our region.  Derik’s playing career began after playing basketball through high school.  He started playing outdoor volleyball as a full-time pastime.  Derik was a walk-on at Brigham Young University and played a couple of years there in the opposite and setter positions and was fortunate to be coached by some of the best coaches in the US- Carl McGown, Tom Peterson, Hugh McCutcheon.  He also played competitive beach volleyball in both the Northwest and Utah and continues to play both indoor and outdoor volleyball for recreation.  Derik spent the last 2 years as a head coach for Snohomish Youth Volleyball where his girls have gotten their start in the game.  Derik loves the sport of volleyball and is excited to help others have fun and gain personal satisfaction through playing at a high-level of competitive volleyball. 

Rachelle II 2013

Rachelle Manske: U14-1 Head Coach, Head Setters Coach & S/R Coach

This will be Rachelles 5th year running the club and she had the extreme enjoyment of being the Head Coach for the U14-1 Team last season who ranked #2 in Power League.  Rachelle was a 3 year letterman at Redmond High School as a Libero/Setter.  She went on to play competitive 4’s at Western Washington University.  Currently she still loves to compete participating in the Lake VBC adult league.  Her love for the game continues as she passes along her passion for this great sport onto many generations that have followed. Rachelle has been privately training athletes 11 years here in Lake Stevens.  Rachelle Founded Lake VBC in 2007 due to the rising desire of our local athletes to compete at a higher level of the sport.  This is Rachelle’s 6th  year as director of Lake VBC.  Her 11 years of experience include 6 years coaching with Jim McLaughlin at the University of Washington Volleyball Summer camps, 2 years coaching at the National High Performance camps with USAV, and 4 years coaching our local High Performance Athletes.  Based on her experience and dedication to excellence she was hired as the Regional High Performance Training Director for the Puget Sound region for summer 2011.  Rachelle is dedicated to the highest level of training for herself, her coaching staff and her athletes and strives to master the ability to train our athletes in the most effective & efficient manner.  2012 recipient of the "Most Inspirational leader" Award in the Puget Sound Region.

 Alyssa 2013

Alyssa Martin: U14-1 Assistant & U15-2 Head Coach
IMPACT Certified, GMS I, CAP I Certified

This will be Alyssa’s 3rd year coaching club ball & her 2nd year at Lake, which she is “super psyched about” in her own words. She was the JV coach at Glacier Peak HS in 2011. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Society, Ethics, & Human Behavior and plans to go on to earn her teaching certification. Her playing experience includes: 5 years of club (3 years at WVBA), 4 years varsity at Snohomish HS and 2 years at NCAA DII school- west Virginia Wesleyan college. Her specialty was Libero and Setting.  Her extensive experience as a player and her mature & confident mindset as a young coach makes her a rare find for any club so we are happy to have her on our coaching staff this season and expect great things.

 

RaeAnn Bobadilla: U14-1 Assistant Coach

This will be Rae’s first year on staff with Lake Volleyball Club although she is no stranger to our courts playing her U16-U17 club years as our starting setter.  Rae started playing in 7th grade where she stepped up her game and played four years of club. She was first team all conference setter & team captain during her senior year at Marysville-Pilchuck.  She was also nominated the most inspirational player and team clown all four years of her high school career.  She is currently a student athlete at Edmonds community college, where she is a Setter/Libero. 

Deanna 2013

Deanna Haviland-Chapman: U14-2 Head Coach

Impact Certified

This will be Deanna’s third year on staff with Lake VBC.  She has been around volleyball her whole life which started with watching her mom play.  This grew into a lifelong love of the game.  She was a setter in High School.  Her 5 years of coaching includes a very successful season with our U12 regional team during her first season helping our young athletes make the transition from rec ball to elite training. Her second year of club was spent as the assistant coach on the U14 Blue team who ranked #2 in the PS region.  She loves working with the kids and looks forward to challenging herself as a coach.

April B 2013

April Bobadilla: U14-2 Assistant Coach
IMPACT Certified

This is April’s 3rd year coaching for Lake Volleyball Club.  She is a 2012 graduate of Seattle University, studying Sociology. April’s playing experience includes playing 4 years at Marysville-Pilchuck H.S. as a Setter and 2 years at Skagit Valley College as a Middle Blocker.  She loves working with kids and she loves volleyball, so what better job to have than coaching! With a positive attitude and the skills that she has gained throughout her years of volleyball she brings out the best in our young athletes here at Lake VBC!

Emily S 2013

Emily Stevens: U14-2 Assistant
IMPACT Certified

This will be Emily Stevens 1st season on staff with Lake but has been a part of our Lake Family for the last 8 years.  She has 8 years of playing experience behind her and has played club volleyball for 3 years as a Defensive Specialist. She has coached multiple Boys and Girls clubs teams over the last 3 years and is eager to work with a more competitive and driven group of athletes. Emily is currently a senior at Lake Stevens High School and will be pursuing an education and career as a Dental Hygienist after graduating. She is looking forward to building new relationships and continuing her growth as a coach.

Keith 2013

Keith Manske: Head Coach U15-1, Head Hitters Training Coach

IMPACT Certified, CAP I certified, GMS level I trained

This is Keith’s 5thyear on staff with Lake VBC.  He served last year as the U16 Blue Head coach and did an amazing job of leading the girls to a #5 finish in our Regional Championships.  This was the groups 3rd top 10 finish with coach Keith at point. Keith has a winning track record and a team of happy faces as he meets every athlete exactly where they are and pushes them to their next best.  He is a brilliant strategist of the game.  Keith has a keen eye for the game, is a smart player himself and is loved by all of his athletes.

Nikki 2013

Nikki Baehm: U15-1 Assistant Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Nikki's first year at Lake VBC.  She has four years of coaching experience at the middle school level and has seven years of playing experience including her 4 years at Arch Bishop Murphy and 2 years of Club ball at Mill Creek VB as a Libero. She recently graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Communications and English. She is really excited to coach at Lake and looks forward to meeting the girls and becoming a part of the Lake family.

Alyssa 2013

Rose 2013

Rosita Root: U15-2 Assistant Coach

IMPACT Certified

This will be Rose’s 3rd year on staff with us at Lake VBC.  Last season she was with the U15 Blue team and\ wrapped up a very successful season with a #7 finish at Regional Championships.  Her volleyball experience started in middle school on through High School and college playing for recreation.  Her love for playing is exceeded only by her love for coaching. Rose is very active in our community frequently participating in local events such as Relay 4 Life, Aqua Run, and 2 sprint triathlons.  She looks forward to passing along her love for the sport and knowledge about training and competing at a high level.

 

Brittany Fitzmaurice: U16-1 Head Coach
IMPACT Certified

Brittany is currently a student at WSU, majoring in Business and Management. This will be Britt’s 2nd season with Lake VBC.  Volleyball has been a large part of her life. She grew up watching her older sister play and then she went on to play five years of club volleyball at Skagit. She was first team all-league her Senior year, and helped lead the team to the State Championships, ranking in the top 10.  This will be her fourth year coaching club volleyball and is currently the JV coach at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Brittany is always looking for new ways to keep the game competitive and rewarding, and can’t wait for the season to begin!

 

Aida Cardona: U16-1 Assistant Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Aida’s 1st year on the Lake VBC staff and she is pumped!!! She has had 4 years of coaching experience, assisting at Cedarcrest MS from 2008-2011 and now assuming the C-team head coach at Marysville-Pilchuck HS where she graduated in 2010 as a Varsity Right Side Hitter. A year later, she graduated from Skagit Valley College with an AA in General Studies where she played for only one year before moving onto Oregon Institute of Technology as “Medical Red Shirt” Outside Hitter. Her collegiate career was unfortunately cut short due to an ACL tear in the spring of 2011; in December she left OIT and came back to her home town of Marysville to resume her position of Child and Youth Programs Assistant Coordinator for Naval Station Everett. Aida doesn’t believe in limits, and drives that mindset so her teams can achieve greatness. She is looking forward to this season specifically to work with players who are willing to do what it takes to improve their skills, attitudes, and mentality.

Stevie 2013

Stevie Olsen: U16-2  Assistant Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Stevie’s first year coaching club at Lake.  She has played volleyball for 10 years including 2 years of club at North Shore Juniors and a trip to the Junior Olympics during her 16’s year specializing as a libero. Stevie is currently attending Western Washington University for Mathematics with an endorsement in Elementary education.  We are excited to add Stevie to our coaching staff this year and know that she will put to good use her great love for kids and knowledge of the game.

Ashley F 2013

Ashley Fitzmaurice: U16-2 Head Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Ashley’s 3rd year coaching at Lake VBC and she is excited to get back into club after taking a year off. Ashley is currently finishing up her 3rd year with Grace Academy HS in Marysville, a private Christian School whose winning record has skyrocketed since taking the Head Coach position. She played 3 years of club volleyball, 4 years at Arlington HS as well as 2 years at Everett Community College. She has experienced success playing several different positions; setter for club, DS for High School and OH for Community College. She loves competing at a high level and is very excited to see each individual athlete succeed and be the best they can be.

Kara N 2013

Kara Nelson: U17-1 Head Coach
IMPACT Certified, GMS level I trained

This will be Kara’s 5th year with the Lake VBC family, 4th year as a Lake VBC coach and 8th  year coaching. She has a passion for the sport of volleyball and a love for coaching young athletes. As a coach she draws from her experience as a collegiate athlete. Kara graduated from Stanwood HS receiving 1st team honors her senior year as a Middle Blocker/Setter.  She was named 2nd team NWAC all conference her freshman year of college, 1st team NWAC all conference her sophomore year at ECC where she was also named female athlete of the year as an Outside Hitter. Kara then went on to finish her successful playing career at Central Washington University.  She continues to play competitively today as an Outside Hitter in our Lake VBC adult Leagues.  Kara is competitive by nature, but believes in positive motivation. She has a passion to prepare the athletes with lessons they can not only use on the court as well as later in life.

Aimee 2013 

Aimee Hardenbrook: U17-1 Assistant Coach

IMPACT certified, GMS level I Trained

This will be Aimee’s 3rd  year coaching with Lake VBC.   Aimee has been coaching middle school and rec ball for 6 years, but began as a player at the age of 12.  After playing school ball through high school as an Outside Hitter she continued playing in competitive rec leagues during college and still play today in our Lake VBC adult leagues. She truly enjoys coaching, playing, and watching the sport of volleyball.  Aside from volleyball, she likes to spend time with her husband, Tony, and her kids, Rebecca and Matt, along with traveling and cooking delicious food.  In her spare time she works as a middle school 5th grade teacher in Stanwood.

Greg 2013

Greg Post: U15-1 Asst Coach
IMPACT Certified, GMS level I trained

This will be Greg’s 3rd  season coaching at Lake VBC.  He had a great season last year leading his team to a #8 finish in Power League and #7 finish at regionals.  He is a great competitor and has a perfectionist pursuit of excellence. Greg began playing VB in 1992 and instantly fell in love with the sport.  His coaching experience started in 1999 with his first head coaching position at Nathan Hale High School as the Freshman Coach.  This was followed by eight successful years as the JV coach. Later was hired onto the Archbishop Murphy High School coaching staff where he coached from 2008-2011. He is currently the JV coach at Kamiak HS.   Greg is an enthusiastic coach who loves every aspect of the game and the process of learning. His goal is to pass on his love and passion for “the greatest game on the planet,” in his words, to our young athletesJ

 

Lindi 2013

Lindi Rohrenbach: U13-1 Assistant Coach
IMPACT Certified

This will be Lindi’s first year with Lake Volleyball Club.  She is currently a senior at the University of Washington studying Society, Ethics, and Human Behavior.  Her playing experience includes:  Kamiak High School as a Right Side Hitter and 3 years of club with North shore Jrs. Lindi is currently the assistant coach for Kamiak’s JV team.  She is eager to get to know the girls and to help them to be the best that they can be both on and off the court.
