The Lake Shore Lightning 10 & Under Girl's Softball Team is preparing for the upcoming season.
The Lightning team, State champs for the last seven seasons, is a team dedicated to providing its players with skills and opportunities for high achievement, along with the pleasure of the games.

LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING TAKE 2nd PLACE
AT THE NSA WORLD SERIES
LIGHTNING STRUCK IN COLUMBUS, OHIO LOUD AND OFTEN DURING THE NSA WORLD SERIES. THE LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U HAVING ONE OF THE HARDEST DRAWS PLAYED AND BEAT STATE CHAMPIONS FROM OHIO, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, DELAWARE AND PENNSYLVANIA ALONG WITH STATE RUNNER UPS. ALL THE PLAYERS HAD THEIR MOMENT TO SHINE ON THE BIG STAGE AND CAME THROUGH, THIS WAS A TEAM EFFORT. BUT, NOT ENOUGH CAN BE SAID ABOUT THE AMAZING PERFORMANCE OF ALI CAULKINS, ONE OF OUR PITCHERS, SHE THREW ALMOST EVERY INNING OF THE WORLD SERIES AND HAD MULTIPLE SHUTOUTS AND ON THE FINAL DAY SHE THREW 3 1/2 GAMES BACK TO BACK!
ALSO WE WOULD MEET UP AGAIN AGAINST THE PHILADELPHIA SPIRIT, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE, THAT IS WHAT GREAT TEAMS DO, THEY WINNING THE FIRST AND LSL WINNING THE SECOND... BETWEEN THESE TWO TEAMS SUCCESS WASN'T MEASURED WITH WINS AND LOSSES, BUT WITH FRIENDSHIP AND RESPECT.
AND IN CLOSING, ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK BOTH TERRY AND JACKIE ALONG WITH THE COACHES, PARENTS AND THE PLAYERS FOR TWO EXCITING YEARS OF PLAYING AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. I KNOW MY DAUGHTER IS A BETTER PLAYER AND MOST IMPORTANTLY A BETTER PERSON BECAUSE OF IT.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER SEEN OR BEEN A PART OF GIRLS FASTPITCH SOFTBALL, THE BELOW PICTURE TELLS IT ALL. PICTURED BELOW ARE THE COACHES AND LADIES OF THE PHILADELPHIA SPIRIT ALONG WITH THE LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING.. ALL SMILES. THESE TWO REMARKABLE TEAMS PLAYED EACH OTHER THIS YEAR A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES, EACH TEAM WINNING 3 TIMES AND A TIE. BUT PROBABLY THE MOST REMARKABLE STAT IS THIS, THE TWO TEAMS COMBINED AMASSED A RECORD OF OVER 130 WINS WHILE ONLY HAVING A TOTAL OF 7 LOSSES (6 WERE AMONG THEMSELVES). THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED THE GREATEST GAME ON EARTH.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 4 and 0 scoring 39 runs while allowing just 4 this weekend in Anne Arundel County, Maryland at the USSSA MARYLAND STATES tournament in route to another 1st place finish. This is the 7th consecutive MD State Championship for the LSL 10U.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go undefeated scoring 46 runs while only allowing 2 in route to the 2008 ASA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Everyone contributed both with their gloves and bats.

2008 MEMORIAL DAY MADNESS
The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 7 - 0 - 1 at the PONY MEMORIAL DAY MADNESS 3 day tournament taking the 1st place trophy. Ashley Prince drove in 4 runs in the championship game and took home the team trophy while Toni Pritchard was awarded the MVP plaque for outstanding play in the tournament.

2008 HEAT AT THE BEACH
The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 4 and 0 at the USSSA HEAT AT THE BEACH tournament taking the 1st place trophy Sunday in a light rain. In the championship game against the Delaware Swoop we were tied 1 -1 in the bottom of the 7th inning when Toni "THE TIGER" unleased a triple to drive in the winning run.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U take one on the chin at the 7th Annual MOM'S SPLASH in Philadelphia, Pa. On a rain shortened schedule, LSL went 1-0-1 in Saturday's pool play and 1-1 on Sunday's Championship play. After winning our first game of single elimination we then lost in the semi finals to the eventual champions, the Philadelphis Spirit.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 5 and 0 at the ATLANTIC COAST CHALLENGE taking the 1st place trophy Sunday night under the lights. LSL 10U scored 26 runs while only allowing 6 this weekend. Great pitching by Coral as she threw 3 shutouts this weekend.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 3 and 0 in yet another rain shorten weekend in Frederick, Maryland at the USSSA 10th Annual HEARTBREAKER'S CLASSIC in route to another 1st place finish. LSL 10U scored 19 runs while only allowing 3 runs.

The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 3 and 0 in another rain shorten weekend in Vienna, Virginia at the PONY CHERRY BLOSSOM in route to a 1st place finish. LSL 10U scored 28 runs while only allowing 3 runs. Congratulations to Ali for hitting a GRAND SLAM to cap of a great weekend.

- The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 4 and 0 at the EARLY BIRD QUALIFIER in route to a 1st place finish. LSL 10U scored 46 runs while only allowing 12 this weekend. Great hitting lead the way along with strong pitching and fielding.

LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING TAKE 2nd PLACE
- The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 2 and 0 at the MYSTICS SPRING SEASON OPN'R .
- The LSL 10U avenged their lost to the Philadelphia Spirit the week before by beating them 4 to 0 in our first game. The girls then beat the Vienna Stars 6 - 2 to go 2 and 0 for Saturday's poll play. Weather not being a friend this weekend, Sundays play was canceled and the LSL 10U had to settle for 2nd place based on R/A and R/S.

LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING TAKE 2nd PLACE
- The LAKE SHORE LIGHTNING 10U go 4 and 1 at the USSSA KickOff Klassic allowing only 4 runs until the championship game. There, 2 costly errors allow 6 runs for the Philadelpia Spirit and the Lightning end up with 2nd place after a 7-4 loss.
