Started in 2002, Saturday Basketball School(SBS) is a 10-week basketball skills program that focuses on developing and enhancing the basic fundamentals of basketball of young girls ages 8-16. Each session of SBS is conducted at a different school or facility to target the young girls in the community. Conducting these clinics in the community gives SBS an opportunity to:

-Teach the basic fundamentals,

-Identify which girls are interested in basketball and enhance their skill level,

-Introduce the sport of basketball to those who never had an opportunity to play,

-Introduce, develop and maintain physical fitness, and

-Produce future athletes for Southern GA Schools.

SBS is conducted for 10 Saturdays from August through October. Each session of SBS includes skill stations, one-on-one instructions, video teaching and group activities. There are 3 sessions each Saturday for 2 hours each:

Session 1 is for 3rd to 5th graders,
Session 2 is 6th-8th graders
Session 3 is for  HS JV and Varsity Players

SBS programs will be conducted in two counties: Clayton County and Henry County. In addition to the skills basketball training, each student is required to maintain their athletic conditioning by maintaining a weekly workout sheet that is submitted weekly.

SBS will also give players an agility and speed workout. Each week brings on new challenges to develop a sound foundation.

GoGirlGo Educational Program-Women’s Sports Foundation

LADYS, Inc has incorporated the Women's Sports Foundation's GoGirlGo education program within the SBS curriculum. Since 2004, the GoGirlGo program educates girls about health risk behaviors and life lessons such as body image, bullying, diversity, smoking, drugs and stress. The program also features true-life stories from champion athletes like Brandi Chastain, Mia Hamm, Lisa Fernandez, Mary Riddell, Jennifer Rodriguez and Tamika Catchings. These athletes share their experience with common issues.

After every SBS session we will host a workshop targeting one of the GoGirlGo issues. The issue topics may include:

        Embracing Diversity
        Smoking
        Body Image
        Values
        Drugs
        Self-Esteem
        Hooking Up
        Hooky
        Abuse
        Alcohol
        Divorce
        Nutrition
        Stress
        Depression/Sadness
        Bullying

The GoGirlGo program provides instructional guides to conduct each workshop. They also provide educational materials, a GoGirlGo Journal and Life guides for the athletes.
