Louisiana All Star Baseball Team: All Star History
About the LOUISIANA ALL STARS
The LOUISIANA ALL STARs is an 18U select baseball program based out of Baton Rouge. We have players from all over the state playing a very competitive schedule and traveling to many different places.
The ALL STAR program began back in the mid 80's as Lousteau Ford American Legion Team based out of Gonzales, Louisiana. The team then became All Star Ford out of Gonzales. Coach Wade Simoneaux and Coach Fran Andermann were the first and only coaches of ALL STAR until 1992 when Coach Chris Counts joined the staff. That same year, after incredible success on the American Legion Level, Coach Simoneaux decided to move the team to Baton Rouge and increase the player pool from which we drew from. We became affiliated with the AABC Connie Mack Division and took it by storm...advancing to the Connie Mack World Series the first year! After a couple of years in Connie Mack and another year in the Independent Amateur Baseball Association, ALL STAR was shelved for a few years following Coach Simoneaux's new position as the Assistant Baseball Coach for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
In 2000, Coach Counts revived the ALL STAR Program and now that the "ball" is rolling...the future looks bright for the LOUISIANA ALL STAR BASEBALL TEAM! We currently have several teams at various age groups competing locally, regionally, and nationally!
