Silver Lake BU19 Team Wins First KYSA MTOC State Championship
This past weekend, in Lancaster, MA, KYSA history was made. KYSA’s Silver Lake BU19 team won the FIRST EVER Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) State Championship by any KYSA team. The Silver Lake BU19 team is comprised of 17, 18 and 19 year old players from Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton Youth Soccer Associations.
In the Semi-Finals, the Silver Lake team beat Woburn BU19 3-2 in overtime to advance to the Championship Game. The Woburn team had been undefeated and hadn’t given up a goal in round robin play. In the Championship Game the Silver Lake team defeated a very strong and heavily favored Dartmouth BU19 team in PK’s. This is truly a historic event for Kingston, Halifax and Plympton Youth Soccer Associations.
KYSA players on the Championship team were Joey Alves, Joe Costa, Taylor DeOgburn, Andrew Harkins, Kyle McGinn, Garrett Seiden, Adam Smith, Nick Smith and Sean Walsh. KYSA players who weren’t able to play at MTOC were Jon Ladas, Chris McNiff, Alex Turcotte and Jake Youssef. If you see any of these players, please be sure and congratulate them on their historic accomplishment.
This outstanding team was coached by KYSA’s Roy Harkins, Fred Defeo and Phil Reilly. Be sure to congratulate the coaches who devoted countless hours of their time to make this happen.
