The Lady Gators defeated Christian Co., Louisville Butler, Scott Co., North Laurel and defending state champion Ryle to finish the season with a record of 40-5 and bring home their first ever state championship.
Pitcher Rachel Riley was named MVP and joining her on the all-tournament team were Elizabeth Ferrell, Amanda Walden, Chelsea Birchell and Lindsey Green.

WKU to Host 4th Region Softball Tournament
The 4th Region Softball Tournament will be held at the WKU Softball Facility for the foreseeable future.
The 2006 Regional Tournament set KHSAA Fastpitch regional attendance records for both attendance and individual session.

GREENWOOD'S FERRELL SIGNS WITH WKU
Greenwood third baseman Elizabeth Ferrell will continue her softball
career at Western Ky. University. She has been on the varsity team
since seventh grade. She currently holds two career Lady Gator records -
Most Stolen Bases (114) and Most Runs Scored (179).

Warren East Softball Players Named Governor's Scholars
Two of Warren East's softball players, Kristin Studle and Rae Ann Holmes, have been selected as Governor's scholars. Both have decided to further their education at WKU. Both are also interested in playing softball there.
Studle has been asked to interview for the WKU Leadership Scholarship. 1500 applied and only 10 have been asked to interview for the 5 available scholarships. Good luck Kristin!

13th District Champ: Franklin Simpson
13th District Runner-Up: Logan Co.
14th District Champ: Greenwood
14th District Runner-Up Bowling Green

Greenwood won the 2006 4th Region Tournament with a 2-0 win over Allen Co. Scottsville. Sophomore shortstop Amanda Walden was named tournament MVP for her outstanding defensive play, as well as her timely offensive output.
The Lady Gators represented the 4th Region well at the Kentucky State Tournament. They opened the tournament with wins over George Rogers Clark and Woodford Co., but then lost to North Hardin and Owensboro Catholic by one run each. Greenwood's play earned them a 5th place finish at state.

GREENWOOD'S YORK SIGNS WITH UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE
On, Wed. Nov 9, Brittany York, Greenwood pitcher and first baseman, signed with the University of Louisville. Heading into her senior year, she has a career .414 batting average, .972 fielding % and a .68 ERA on the mound.
York is a leading candidate for the "2006 Kentucky Miss Softball" title. She was voted "All-State 1st Team Class 3A" in 2004 and 2005 and was selected as a member of the Kentucky Junior West All-Stars in 2005.
