Appleton Little League

Hello from Appleton Wisconsin,
I'm the President of the Appleton Little League, Inc. which includes 5 seperate leagues for both baseball (29 teams) and softball (16 teams).

You've certainly done a nice job on your website. And the entire state of Kentucky has always played some very decent baseball at this and many other levels of play. I noticed on your website that you have your age groups split into a 9-10 league and a 11-12 league. I was wondering if you'd share any information that might be helpful to us as we research this same idea.

We split our softball league into a 9-10 age group and 11-12 age group for our Majors a couple of years ago. Thye had a rough first year administrtive wise but the managers, coaches, players, parents, and other volunteers have seen a great improvement in the level of play in and beyond little league.

Any information you could provide as to the pros and cons of splitting our league will be most appreciated. I thank you inadvance for your reply and wish you continued success with your teams and this website.

Mike Waters,President
Appleton Little League

If you would read your rulebook it states that a player must play 3 consecutive outs in the field AND bat once.

The actual score of the Boyd Co. Russell game was Boyd Co 11 and Russell 1. It was ruled a mercy after 4 innings but was said to be a forfeit because 1 player did not bat during the game. The player in question did play 2 innings in the field but was unable to bat due to the mercy. It states in the rule book that a player is required to play 1 inning in the field or 1 at bat.
