Devoted mother and wife Nancy Feist was called home to be with our Lord, along with her newborn son, Peter David, on June 19. Nancy was a lifelong, faith-filled Roman Catholic and a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Nancy was born on Aug. 2, 1965, in Bethlehem, Pa. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, David, and adoring children Hope, Justin, Ryan, Craig, and Erin, all of Knoxville; parents Joseph and Nancy O’Keefe of Bethlehem, brothers Joseph, Michael, Sean, and families; and father- and mother-in-law Albert and Gloria Feist.
The great loves of her life were the Lord Jesus, her husband, and her six children. Nancy was truly salt and light to the world and a blessing to everyone she met. Nancy was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem and Hood College in Frederick, Md. Nancy enjoyed her work at the Chancery of the Diocese of Knoxville, where she served Bishops Joseph E. Kurtz and Richard F. Stika and the diocesan staff.
The family will receive friends at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, with recitation of the rosary following.
A celebration-of-life Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 24. Bishop Stika, the bishop of Knoxville will be the main celebrant, along with concelebrating bishops Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville and Bishop James Vann Johnston of Springfield–Cape Girardeau, Mo., and concelebrating priests of the Diocese of Knoxville. A reception will follow at the parish hall. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "The Nancy Feist Fund" for the benefit of the children. Donations may be sent to the Diocese of Knoxville, P.O. Box 11127, Knoxville, TN 37939. Please include "Nancy Feist Fund" in the memo line of checks.
Donations may also be made to the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia, Convent, Nancy Feist Scholarship Fund, Mount de Sales Academy, 700 Academy Rd., Catonsville, MD 21228.
A “care calendar” has been created to help coordinate the efforts of the many loving friends who would like to help the Feist family during the days and months ahead. To volunteer, visit www.carecalendar.org and sign on with calendar ID 18204 and security code 9708.
You can share memories of Nancy and assure the family of your prayers by visiting nancyfeist.org and posting a comment.
