To: The Kettering-Largo-Mitchellville Community From: The Kettering-Largo-Mitchellville Boys & Girls Club Re: Storage Facility Fundraiser Dear KLM Resident: The Kettering-Largo-Mitchellville Boys and Girls Club is requesting your assistance in its fundraising efforts to construct a storage facility. Your donation is tax deductible and can be mailed to our corporate fundraising account at Chevy Chase Bank. KLMBGC is one of the most long-standing, highly active boys and girls club in the area. We have over 1900 participants yearly and we are one of the largest volunteer organizations serving kids of the community, outside of the Prince Georges County Public Schools. Our fundraising goal of $150,000 is required to match a State of Maryland grant of the same amount to construct a storage facility for the vast inventory we have accumulated over the years to keep our programs alive from year to year. Previously, all of our equipment and uniforms were stored in the Kettering communitys Kilby Center, which was destroyed in an electrical fire in March 1998. Reconstruction of that facility did not include the needed storage requirements for our Club. Currently, our equipment and uniforms are stored at the residences of our board members. This situation does not lend itself to easy access or adequate inventory accountability. With your continued assistance we are confident that we can reach our goal to construct the sorely needed facility to accommodate all the needs of our programs and thus, enable us to continue our core functions in the community.
