The close of the 2013 season marks the start of the major field renovations for the 2014 season!
The field contractor showed up on Sunday and began removing, leveling and reseeding the infield. This is exciting news for all the infielders who had those bounces off the lip of the infield over the last couple of years! This infield work should be done and the grass seed should start growing by early next week if all goes well.
In addition to this, the problem fencing spots have already been replaced. The dugout and bullpen carpets have been torn up and will be replaced and a water fountain will be installed in the home dugout as well. All of this and many other field maintenace items were started yesterday with an eye on a better field for next season.
Check back to see the progress and enjoy the off-season until we meet again in the spring on the new diamond!
Monday, September 30
Saturday marked the final game of the 2013 fall season due to the upcoming field renovations.
The fall season went well as all of the players seemed to "get it" as there were some very good games this fall. The older players did a nice job mentoring the younger players along at their positions and the pitching and defense did very well all fall season.
Have a nice off-season and we look forward to seeing you again in the spring when the 2014 season starts to heat up!

Thursday, August 1
After posting a 9-6-2 record and finishing as the 5th seed the Kiski Valley Jr. Legion team bowed out in the first round 2 games to 1 to the eventual Regional Champion East Hempfield.
After overcoming some adversities and injuries this season the team was able to battle to the end but just didn't have enough left to advance to the semi-finals.
The players did a great job and we look forward to the fall ball season and getting ready for next year's run.

FYI. This recently came in from the Legion folks regarding bats:
Bamboo Bats are illegal as
are Red Maple, Silver Maple, two-piece bats utilizing wood head on a composite
or plastic handle, and bats made of sawn and re-glued or laminated pieces of
Questions have been raised about the legality of using a “colored bat” recently. Even though the Major League rule book states that a colored bat may not be used, the Prep and Youth Legion players may use a colored bat, this is effective immediately. Please inform the umpires of this ruling. It has been approved by the State.
