UPDATES ON ALUMNI COMPETING IN COLLEGE
Megan Melton-Class of '12- Gardner-Webb University South Carolina -Meg finished in fourth place in the 2016 Big South Conference championships in the pole vault clearing 12-1.
Noelle Abboud-Class of '12-University of California-Riverside- Noelle finished off her senior year with a third place finish in the Big West Conference 400 meters. Noelle also ran a sensational anchor leg on the 4 X 400, finishing a close second in the conference for the Highlanders..
Jessica Wiese-Class of '11-Northron Arizona University-Jessica finished off her collegiate career as the Big Sky Champion in the Women's Shot Put. Jessica's winning toss was 48-9 but has a PR throw of 51-9. Jessica was also the 2013 conference shot put champion-a second place winner in 2014 and the indoor champion in 2014.
Hannah Peterson - Class of '11 - University of Arizona - Graduated in May of 2016, used all five years of eligibility. Improved dramatically from her King days and competed on the 2013 Wildcat cross country squad that finished second in NCAA D1 Nationals.
Tayler Fleming-Class of '13-University of California-Riverside-Tayler came int her own in 2016 as she set the heptathlon record for the Highlanders-THE VERY FIRST TIME SHE CONTESTED THE EVENT!!! She would go on to help the Highlanders to their highest finish in the conference standings in a long time. Tayler won the the Big West Long Jump championship (she had one of the top 30 long jumps in the college/professional national ranks at 20-11). she would also finish third in the 100 hurdles; third in the heptathlon and helped Noelle and the 4 X 400 team finish second.
Amed Abul-Rahman-Class of'11-Cal Poly Pomona-Amed finished his career with CP, after winning third place in the state discus throw for San Bernardino Valley College in 2014.
Mat Vasel-Class of '11-University of California-Riverside-Mat finished his career at UCR as the UCR Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year. he competed tw years for the Highlanders and spent two ywar at RCC, taking part in the winning of two state championships and was the conference champion in the 400.
Lane Werley - Class of '11 - UCLA - Lane finished his career with three All Americans, capped off with a 12th place finish at the 2016 NCAA D1 Nationals in Eugene Oregon. His 29:07 10,000 meter best time recorded this season put him on UCLA's top 10 at that distance All Time!
Emily Sanchez-Class of '15-University of California-Riverside- Emily competed at the Big West Finals in the 5000 meters and was ultimately one of two Highlanders that qualified for and competed in the Junior Nationals meet in mid-June.
Raelyn Werley-Class of '13-Cal State San Marcos-Raelyn ran the 5th fastest 10,000 meters in the California Collegiate Athletic Association finals.
Aaron Hickman-Class of'12-Cal State San Marcos-Aaron ran the 400 leg of the relay team that set a new school record in the distance medley.
Daniel Mukasa-Class of '15-Oberlin College-Ohio-Daniel finished 4th in the North Coast Athletic Conference finals. His vault of 14-1 made him the highest flying frosh in the league.
Madison McPeak-Class of '15-Riverside Community College-Maddie was second in the State of California in the pole vualt with a leap of 11-4.
Hannah Chang-Class of '15-Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo-Hannah was a finalist in the Big West Pole Vault and had a season best jump of 12-4.
Brianna Jacklin-Class of '14-Riverside Community College-Brianna was the Orange Empire Conference champion in the 5000 and 10,000 and repeated that feat at Southern California Regionals. She went on to be second in the state in the 10,000 and fourth in the 5000. She has committed to Cal-State Fullerton to compete for the Titans. She was also a member of the California Community College Athletic Association All-State Academic team.
Josh Jeter-Class of'12-Cal State Los Angeles-Josh qualified for the 400 Hurdle Finals in the CCAA after transfering from RCC.
Delynn Holland-Class of '15-Fullerton Junior College-Delynn was a Southern California Regional finish in both the long jump and the triple jump barely missing out on a trip to the state meet.
Bayleigh Porter-Class of '14-Vanguard University-Competed in the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Championship Prelims in the 800
Lauren Soholt-Class of '14-Vanguard University-Competed in the GSAC Championship prelims in the 1500 and the 5000
Nick Abboud-Class of '15=-University of California-Riverside-Competed in the Big West Championship Prelims in the 110 Hurdles.
Jackae Yarbrough-Class of '15-Riverside Community College-Jackae finished in 5th place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) both the shot and the discus. She went on to compete at the Southern California Regionals.
Ryan Moussad-Class of '15-Riverside Community College-Ryan was a 5th place finisher in the OEC 400 meter Hurdles
Matt Cleland-Class of '15-Riverside Community College-Matt won 7th place in the OEC in the OEC meter hurdles
Carlos Ramirez-Class of '15-Riverside Community College- won 6th place in the OEC 3000 meter Steeplechase which qualified him for the Southern California Regionals. Carlos recorded a 10:25.66 in his first year ever in the event.
Rolando Phelan and Isaiah Quiambao - Class of '15-Riverside Community College-competed in the OEC prelims and finals in the 1500, 5000 and 10,000.
Cecilia Rojas-Class of '13-University of California-Riverside-Cecilia finished out third year with the Highlanders with a PR of 62.7.
Pablo Trevino-Class of '15-Riverside Community College-Pablo was the 8th place finisher at 11-10 in the OEC pole vault finals.
Marcos Zavaleta-Class of '15-Valley City State University-North Dakota-Marcos was a finalist in the North Star Athletic Confrence Finals pole vault.

SOME RECENT ALUMNI NEWS
The 2015 College Indoor Track and Field season is well underway and King alums were at the forefront of their team's performances this past weekend. Three ex-Wolves performed for UC-Riverside at the Northern Arizona Mountain T's Invitational in Flagstaff, Ariz. Mat Vasel, (c/0 2011)an RCC transfer, finished 7th in the 60 meter dash and ran the fastest 200 time of the day in the opening rounds of that event. Tayler Fleming (c/o of 2013 was 9th in the competiton in the 60 Meter hurdles. Noelle Aboud (c/o 2012)had a great weekend finishing 4th in the 200 at 25.08 and was a member of the winning 4 x 400 team. In her fourth year of competing for the host NAU Lmberjacks, Jessica Wiese (c/o 2011) hurled the shot 50 feet 5 inches for second place. With that throw Jessica has qualified for the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships to be held at NAU at the end of the month.
Another alum, UCLA's Lane Werley (c/o 2011) stepped out big time at the University of New Mexico Team Invitational and ran a 4:05.84 in the mile!!!! Lane finished second to UTEP's Anthony Rotich who was clocked in 4:02.75. UCLA won both the men's and women's championships in a meet held at some 5300 feet altitude in Albuquerque , NM.
And just one more. This alum is sure to be the fastest moving and highest flying King track alum. Chris Villanueva (c/o 2009) and graduate of the Air Force Academy in 2014, has just been selected to fly an F-16 for the United States Air Force! He'll be training in the super-sonic fighter jet for the next year before being deployed. As of 2017, he is now flying for the USAF in South Korea.
