Panthers Come 2nd In National Finals
Tom W
Kingston Panthers made history this weekend by making the final of the BIPHA National Championships, losing narrowly to Hallamshire Hornets.
Panthers went 1 up thanks to Tim McKay in the opening minutes, but Hallam equalised on the powerplay before ending the period 2-1 up. Phil Gowland then got an equalising goal making the score level at 2-2. Most of the final period was in gridlock but Hallam broke down the Panthers defence to score 2 goals within 3minutes of each other. With the score at 4-2 the Panthers desperatley tried pulling the game back, and in the final 2minutes of the game, Nic Gowland was pulled to give Panthers the extra man. This gamble failed to pay off as Pearson from the Hornets scored an empty net goal making the game a closely fought 5-2 victory for Hallamshire Hornets.

Kingston Panthers would like to wish Hallamshire Hornets good luck in the European Championships where they will be flying the British flag, competing with the best teams in Europe.

The Kingston Panthers made history this weekend by winning the Viking Cup after seeing off close rivals Snaith Stormers.
No team has ever won both the North East Viking League and the Viking Cup in one season, but the Panthers silenced all the critics who predicted either Leeds or Snaith would prevent Kingston from winning the cup.
After cumfortably beating Midlife Madness in the semi-final, the Panthers were to face Snaith Stormers in the final.
This game proved to be one to remember. Referee Richard Hunter even stated that it was the best final he had ever reffed.

Being only one 20 minute period, neither team could make a mistake, however the Panthers ended up killing penalties for 8minutes out of the opening 10. After successfully killing the penalties, the Panthers got in their stride and mainly dominated posession before Tim Mckay scored two thirds of the way through the game.
This proved to be the game winner in a game that ended 1-0.

The Kingston Panthers are now fully focused on the Nationals which are this coming weekend and are going into the tournament in good form.

League Belongs to Panthers
Kingston Panthers have won the North-East Viking League for the second year running. After being denied an unbeaten run by Snaith Stormers earlier in the season, the Panthers ended up level on points with Snaith however Kingston impressive goals against record saw them lift the League Shield again.
Kingston have now won the North-East league more than any other team, and have no signs of giving it up next season.

Due to the collapse of Teeside Renegade, Kingston Panthers wasted no time in securing the signature of GB International Aaron Shinwell.
Shinwell will add depth to defence while also creating great scoring opportunities as he is great at joining forwards in attack.

Panthers Shut-Out Renegades
Mike & Gowan
Panthers shut-out Teeside Renegades this Sunday with a 2-0 win that keeps their unbeaten run alive.

Panthers had most of the posession through out this game, and Teeside only looked to be a threat on the odd occasion as they sat behind the puck for most of the game hoping to only catch the Panthers on the break.
This tactic from Teeside proved to be effective as the score at the end of the first period was 0-0.

This was soon turned around as Panthers opened the scoring early in the second period with a slap shot from point coming from Alex Jones, assisted by Kris Gowland.
This seemed to increase Panthers will to win and the next 10 minutes showed plenty of Panther posession and opportunities which didnt eventually materialise into goals.
However just after the mid way point in the second and final period, Mike Catchpole scored with a tip-in coming from a superb pass from John Bolton.

A.Jones (1+0) , M.Catchpole (1+0) , K.Gowland (0+1) , J.Bolton (0+1)

Kingston Panthers are now sitting 4points clear at the top of the BIPHA North-East table with 6 games, 6 wins, 60 goals for, 6 goals against.

Panthers win 3 out of 3
Panthers hit the league hard by winning all 3 games in the first day of the league fixtures. Snaith proved to be the toughest oposition that Panthers faced on Sunday, but even they couldn't match the speed and finishing of the Panther unit.

Panthers hope to build on these three wins as they face Llantwit Lions and York University in their next league fixtures on Saturday 11th November.

(Scores and game write up's are found in the "Games" section)

Panthers Win Pre-Season Friendly
Johnny Ainsley
Kingston Panthers have high expectations this season, and have had the perfect start by beating Sheffield Stampede 8-4 in a pre-season friendly.

It was clear that Panthers mean business as they put away their chances cumfortably last night against Stampede. Afew minutes of concentration lapse saw Stampede pull the score to 5-4 at one point. This created a spark within the Panther side who scored another 3 goals within quick consession.

The Panthers have their opening season games against Snaith Stormers, Bottersford Phoenix and Scunny Team Fusion on Sunday 1st October.
