Kings Youth Baseball: Rookie League

KINGS ROOKIE LEAGUE BACK IN 2008!!!

This past season we had 17 teams participate in the second year of the Kings Rookie League, making is a huge success.  We created to Rookie League (RL) to focus on teaching baseball skills in a non-competitive environment.  We anticipate the league to grow even more this year with the continued participation of area youth progams.

Some key features of the Rookie League include:

(1) A focus on teaching and developing baseball skills. For example, runners can only advance on base on all balls hit in the infield thus reducing advances to other bases and overthrows.  This is baseball, not a track meet!

(2) A "non-competitive" environment.  Game standings (i.e. wins and losses) are not published thereby encouraging skill development and fun not winning at all cost.

(3) Games are local.  All games are played at Landen Park, so no travel!

(4) Teams are comprised of only kids from the Kings School District.  Therefore, a child can play with their classmates!

(5) Teams compete against other teams of their same age level.  7 year olds DO NOT play the 8 year old teams.

(6) The regular season runs from the beginning of May through June.  That leaves plenty of time for family vacations!!

Look for sign up information very soon!!!  Please contact us at kingsbaseball@hotmail.com with any questions.
