Colin McGowan came in and pitched lights out for 2 innings allowing Conlin's to have a shot for the victory. Pete Conlin got the ball rolling in the top of the 8th with a lead off walk and had the speedy Toby Gallagher pinch run for him, after a failed sacrifice bunt John Mader ripped a ball to the gap for a triple and Toby's crafty hook slide gave Conlin a 9-8 lead. Wednesday, June 4 And The Streak Continues!! Youngs Continue Scoreless Innings Streak!!
This totally bogs my mind!! A mere 18 years after his father Scott logged an incredible run of 36 innings of scoreless pitching his son Nate who was making his 1st Tri County start added to the streak with an incredible 6 innings of 1 hit ball, issueing a pair of walks while striking out 7 in a 4-2 victory over Hardenburg/Petes. As me and his father Scott where getting a little nostalgic over some of the past games we played in and getting a little concerned about Nates pitch count Nate recorded his 7th K of the game while retireing the last 14 batters he faced after giving up a scratch single in the 2nd inning. Billy Rice delivered 2 rbi's on the night with a ground out in the 1st and a hard liner in the fourth to lead the offense. Next game is at home on Thursday!! Just so this is totally clear, I was in my 2nd year of Tri County ball before Nate was even born!! Damn I'm old!!!

With a single run in the 3rd and a run in the 5th the score was 5-0 going into the bottom of the 5th. Reagle got a little wild and walked the first 2 batters of the inning and Jim Nastasi followed with a 3 run bomb cutiing the lead to 5-3. With 2 outs and 2 runners on base Justin Heller came to the plate and hit a drive into the right center field gap for a game tying double. Gallagher who was pitching on fumes gave up 2 runs in the top of the 8th and it looked like the season would be coming to an end, but the veteran squad kept it together and scratched and clawed out another 2 runs the last being a Gary Barbara tying the game on a infield single with 2 outs. That brings us to the top of the 9th and with runners on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out Matt Schliecher entered the game. He walked the leadoff hitter and surrenderd a sac fly before inducing an inning ending double play. Ryan Hoffman who entered the game in the 6th inning as a pinch runner for player/coach Pete Conlin singled to start the inning, Justin Heller than hit a ball that looked destined to be a base hit the ball hit Hoffman in the leg for the 1st out of the inning. Tim Barnshaw followed with a single to put runners on 1st and 2nd, Joe Midili than hit a laser to left to load the bases, that set the stage for Nick Sbarra who laced a double down the left field line to score 2 runs and end won of the most dramatic wins in franchise history. Conlin's will start a best of 3 series against defending league champions Roughriders at Haddonfield HS. 6pm start!!
Wednesday, July 18 Deja Vu?? Painter Hits 2 Run Walk Off Bomb!!!
For the second time in three games Conlin baseball has won the game by a walk off HR. Last night it was Paul Painter who did the honors. With the score tied 6-6 Nick Sbarra led off the bottom of the 7th with a bunt single and that brought up clean up hitter Paul Painter, with the count 3-1 Paul got a belt high fastball and totally crushed it over the right center field fence. The center and right fielder never moved and the game was over. Next game is friday against the Roughriders. Game is at Haddon Twp. High School. Field where we played Pat's steaks! Thursday, October 19 Mike Pizzutillo Announces Retirement From Tri County League!!!
I'm sad to announce that Mike Pizzutillo will no longer be playing for Conlin baseball. Mike has accepted a job in the beautiful Orange County, California. I would like to thank Mike for the great four years he gave to us and that we all know he will be greatly missed on and off the field. Pizz was not only a great baseball player but he was great friend to me and anybody that he came in contact with. Mike Pizzutillo was one of if not the most dominant pitchers in the league; take a look at his stats which are minus many masterpieces in the playoffs. In 96 innings he posted a 12-2 record allowing only 53 hits, had 107 K's, had 41BB's, with a tiny 1.46 ERA!!! I want to wish Pizz the best of luck with his new job and hopes he finds a league he can hook up with. It would be a crime if a guy with that talent didn't pitch. Pizz, you will missed!!!

Conlin's manager Pete Conlin was on the verge of pulling Pizz in the 1st inning when the big right hander said he would pitch thru the pain. After a few magic pills and some magic heating balm, the chiropractic father of Joe Madilli twisted and turned Pizz into a pretzel and amazingly he gained about 10 MPH on his fastball. Conlin's took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Ryan Hoffman laced a single up the middle to score Pete Conlin for a 4-3 lead. Bellmawrs Chris Stazewski lead off the top of the 4th with a fly out to Joe Madilli, that was the last batter who would record an out by putting the ball in play. Over the next 3 and 2/3 innings Mike Pizzutillo recorded 11 straight outs via the strikout. He did allow a walk and 2 hits during that stretch. Pizz finished with 15 k's and allowed only 5 hits on the night. Corey Hoffman and Bill Rice each had booming rbi doubles to lead the offense. Friday, June 23 Ugly Loss Drops Conlin Baseball To 5-2!!!
On a night when James "Milkman" Malko pitched well enough to earn a easy victory, bad defense and spotty hitting cost Conlin baseball a victory over a game Camden squad. Conlin baseball managed only 8 hits while committing 5 errors and a number of other plays that was costly to the cause. James Malko deserved a better outcome than taking the loss. Let's take this as a learning experience and move on. Next game is Monday against Hardenburg/Petes.
Friday, June 16 Stanisce And Gallagher Restore Order!!!
A night after the pitching staff yielded 17 hits and 18 runs Chris Stanisce and Toby Gallagher combined on a 3 hitter in leading Conlin baseball to a 3-2 victory over Hardenburg/Pete's. Stanisce was dominant in his 4 innings of work, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 4. The crafty veteran left hander Toby Gallagher came into the game in the 5th with a 2-0 lead and gave up to 2 runs in which 1 was earned. In the bottom of the 5th Kevin Hoffman drove in his 2nd 2 out Rbi of the night knocking in Nick Sbarra who reached on a fielders choice and stole second before scoring the deciding run. Gallagher pitched a perfect 6th and with 2 outs and 2 on in the 7th he struck out Hardenburgs 4 hole hitter to end the game.
Thursday, June 15 Conlin Baseball Suffers First Loss In A Circus!!!!
On a night when you literally saw about 15 errors, 30 hits, bad umpires, and a team making outs on purpose to try and get 6 innings in, Conlin baseball dropped an ugly 18-17 game in which the last out was recorded at 8:43pm!!! Roughriders scored 4 runs in the dark in the top of the 6th to take a one run lead, Conlin baseball loaded the bases (in the dark) with nobody out when Pete Conlin hit Corey Hoffman with a batted ball for the 1st out. Hmmmmm, I think it was dark!! And with 1 out the Roughriders hung on for the victory. Next game is Friday against Hardenburg/Petes.
Wednesday, June 14 Conlin baseball Up 8-0 Over Kepple In Suspended Game!!!
Conlin baseball was winning 8-0 over Kepple Carpets going into the bottom of the 5th inning last night before the skies opened up and the game was suspended. When, where, and why we have to continue this game will be determined at a later date. Kevin Hoffman launched a 3 run HR in the 1st and added a solo shot in the 3rd to lead the offense. James Malko was working on the shutout before the game was stopped. Next game is home opener against the Roughriders.
Monday, June 12 Bottom Of The Line Up Has Huge Night!!!
On a night that Conlin baseball pounded out 17 hits it was the 6 thru 9 hitters doing most of the damage. Justin Callahan, Joe Madilli, Ryan Hoffman, and Tim Barnshaw went a combined 9-14 with 6 Rbi's and 10 runs scored in leading Conlin baseball to a 12-0 victory over the Lumber Kings. Mike Pizzutillo had 4 k's in 2 innings of relief. Next game is friday at Deptford High School
Game Overshadowed By Shocking News!!!
On a day that I should be talking about a great pitching performance I feel it would be very selfish to do so at this time. After our game last night Ryan Iannelli informed me that he will more than likely be out for the remainder of the summer due to him being diagnosed with testicular cancer. If Ryan battles this obstacle as half as hard as he battles on the baseball field he will be back on the diamond stealing bases and tracking down gappers in the outfield in no time. As a team our thoughts and prayers go out to Ryan and to the rest of his family for a very quick and speedy recovery.
Kelly's Investment Wins Title #8!!!!
Kelly's Investments which was trailing the series 1-0 fought back and won the next 2 games to take home there league record 8th title. Kepple Carpet's which was the defending champions where an outstanding team and played the series with class and good hard nosed baseball. In game 2 of the series Kelly's was missing some key players which meant that starting pitcher Kevin Burg would have to bat for the first time since the 8th grade. Well, who knew that was a blessing in disguise as Burg lined a 2 out line drive to knock in the 1st run of the game. Burg scattered 9 hits and pitched his was out of numerous jams including a 2nd and 3rd and nobody out in the bottom of the 5th. Burg induced an infield fly a strike out and a circus catch by 1st baseman Pete Conlin who had a pop out lined up until it popped out of his glove and bounced straight up into the air, Conlin recovered and caught the ball just before it hit the ground. Corey Hoffman drove in the 2nd run with an Rbi single. Kepples didn't quit and had runners on 1st and 3rd with a run in and 2 outs and Burg got the final out on another more conventional pop out to Conlin to end the game. Game 3 was little easier and a little less nerve racking. Nick Sbarra got Kelly's off to quick start with a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 1st but Kepple quickly answered with a solo HR in the top of the 2nd. From there it was the Justin Callahan show as he bombed a 2 run HR and also had a 2 Rbi single later in the game. Mike Pizzitillo pitched a solid if not spectacular performance going the distance and striking out 7. The final out was recorded with Pizz blazing a fastball by the hitter and the celebration was on. I want to thank everybody that played this year and put in the time and the effort to win back the championship. Pictures are up in the baseball photos section!! See you guys next year!!!
Conlin And Pizzitillo Lead Kelly's Into Finals!!!
Pete Conlin was 3-4 with a Homerun and 3 Rbi's and Mike Pizzitillo pitched 4 hit ball over 6 innings of work in leading Kelly's Investment to a 13-1 victory over the Roughriders. Frank Galeota, Brandon Anderson, Rich Janofsky, and Justin Heller all chipped in with 2 hits. In game 1 of the series it was the Kevin Burg, Nick Sbarra show. Burg hurled a complete gem striking out a career high 10 and giving up only 3 hits in a 3-1 victory. Sbarra drove in all 3 runs with 2 run scoring doubles and also making an incredible diving catch down the righfield foul line saving the tying run from scoring. The Chmpionship series will start sometime early in the week.
"Stone Cold" and Gallagher Lead Kelly Into Semi's!!!!
Corey "Stone Cold Don't Bunt" Hoffman delivered the game winning hit with a line single to left in the top of the 8th inning in last nights 3-2 victory. Veteran lefthander Toby Gallagher pitched a complete game 6 hitter and allowing 0 earned runs. Toby did a masterful job of keeping the hard hitting Camden lineup off balance all night. Trailing 2-0 going into the top of the 6th inning Nick Sbarra delivered a an Rbi triple and Dave Koerner followed that up with a run scoring single to tie the game. The winning rally in the 8th started with a strikeout wild pitch, a walk to Dave Koerner, and Corey's game winning hit. Next series should start Thursday and our opponent will be the Roughriders.
9 Run 2nd Inning Enough For 1st Game Victory!!!
Kelly Investment's scored 9 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning last night and held on with a 9-6 victory over Camden last night taking a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series. The big blow was a long 3 run HR by Corey "Stone Cold Don't Bunt" Hoffman. All 9 starters scored a run the 2nd. James Malko gutted out the complete game victory. James pitched alot better than what the 6 runs indicate. Next game tonight at Camden!!!
Time To Get Focused!!! Playoffs Are Here!!!
Well boys the playoffs are here and it's time to get down to playing some serious baseball. We gutted it out all year trying to get 10-11 guys to show up and we ended having a very nice year. Being the #1 seed in the playoffs doesn't mean we can just cake walk to the finals. We just lost 3 out of 4 games to end the year and we need to put a stop to that trend now!! Let's go out and play the game like we all know that we can and at the end of the day I really like our chances. Playoffs start this monday at home against the winner of Camden\Dandrea. Let's come out monday and have some fun and set the tone early.
Hoffman Saves The Night!!!
With Kelly Investments struggling the past 2 weeks scoring runs and making things happen, Corey "Stone Cold Don't Bunt" Hoffman took matters into his own hands last night in a 5-4 victory over Camden. On the night Corey was 3-3 with 3 Rbi's and among those 3 hits was a walk-off Rbi single in the bottom of the 7th. James "The Milkman" Malko pitched his typical strong game going the distance and raising his record to 5-0. Last game of the season is home on Thursday against the Roughriders. Playoffs start this Mon., Tues., and Wed. Looksl like we will be the #1 seed. Guys that have not given any money I really need you guys to help me out.
The Doctor Delivers!!!!
In a game that was very close going into the top of the 4th inning Dave Koerner fought back from an 0-2 count and worked the count full, after a foul ball Doc hit a GRAND SLAM that cleared the left center field fence giving Kelly Investments 6-2 lead. Thats all the runs Kevin Burg needed in pitching his 4th complete game and raising his record to 5-0. Koerner finished 2-3 with 4 rbi's whil Frank Galeota also chipped in with 2 hits.
Pizzitillo Throws 2 Hit Shutout!!! Hoffman Gets Game Winning Hit!!!
Mike Pizzitillo threw his second consecutive shutout in leading Kelly Investments to a 1-0 victory over ProTryouts.com. Pizz gave up two singles and had 6 K's. Steve Roop started the bottom of the 5th inning with a line drive to right which was misplayed into a double, Frank Galeota reached on a bunt single moving Roop to 3rd. After 2 infield groundouts Kevin Hoffman stepped in and delivered the game winning single that scored Roop. Next game is Thursday at home against Dandrea.
Malko Hurls 3 Hit Gem!!!
James Malko continued his hot pitching streak with a 3 hit complete game shutout last night against visiting Cherry Hill West. James had 4 k's and just 1 walk. The offense was led by Rich Janofsky who went 2-4 with a triple and an Rbi, Corey Hoffman who was 1-3 with 2 Rbi's and Freddy Bianculli who also had a double and an Rbi. Next game is Monday at home against Pro-tryouts.com.
Callahan Has Monster Night In Extra Inning Affair!!!!
Justin Callahan had a huge night in leading Kelly Investment's to a 13-7 victory over Bellmawr in 9 innings last night. Not only did Callahan go 3-4 with a single, double, triple, and 3 Rbi's, but he also pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the victory. Steve Roop who relieved Kevin Burg also pitched 2 scoreless innings. Dave Koerner, Corey Hoffman, and Justin Heller all chipped in with 2 hits a piece.
Gallagher Notches 30th Career Win!!!!
Toby Gallagher pitched a 7 inning complete game striking out 8 and giving up 2 un-earned runs in a 4-2 victory over Bellmawr last night. It was Toby's 30th career victory. With nobody out in the bottom of the 6th inning Rich Janofsky ripped a double to right center that that scored 2 runs to make the score 3-2, after Kevin Hoffman moved Janofsky up to 3rd Pete Conlin knocked in the final run with a single. Toby had an easy 1-2-3 inning in the 7th in posting his 2nd win of the season. Next game tonight at Bellmawr. 6:30 start.
The Milkman Goes The Distance In 6-3 Victory!!!!
Click on James "The Milkman" Malko's picture for the details.
Barbara Set To Retire!!!
I'm getting really tired of writing depressing news on this site but I have one more that I need to pass on. Tri County legend Dan Barbara has expressed interest in retiring from player/coach to pursue other avenues in his illustrious baseball career. Dan has decided to dedicate the time he has set aside for baseball this year to take over as head coach for a 14 and under travel team. With the amount of time that is needed for his team and other obligations it will be almost impossible for him to play any Tri County baseball this year. Of course he will have a lifetime roster spot as long as we have a team in the league. This is going to be a very odd and strange year for me because this will be the first season in 23 years that I will not play a competitive baseball game with the player/friend whos ability I have admired since I was 11 years old. Anybody who has had the chance to play with or against Dan over the years has seen not only a great player but a great person. Please take the time and look at at Dan's career records and stats and realize that 5 years of his stats are not even included. The incredible numbers he has put up year in and year out don't even scratch the surface of what he has meant to this team over the 18 years we have been in this league. I want to personally thank Dan for all the sacrifices he has made over the years to insure that we had a competitive team and to make sure things ran as smoothly as possible. I'm still holding out hope that Dan will be back in the near future and hope that the rest of us can carry on what Dan was best at. WINNING!!!!
PERFECT GAME!!! PERFECT GAME!!! BURG HURLS A GEM!!!!
In a game that will not soon to be forgotten Kevin Burg pitched the 1st perfect game in franchise history. On a night that it looked very iffy if the game was even going to be played Kevin Burg pitched his way into Tri-County and Kelly Investment's history books. 24 up and 24 down, that's right, the game went extra innings and KI was able to scratch a run out in the bottom of the 8th inning to take a 1-0 victory over Pro-Tryouts.com. Kevin Burg had 5 strikeouts on the night and was never in any real danger of giving up a hit. In the top of the 3rd inning Brandon Anderson made a very nice diving play in center field to keep the perfecto alive. Burg cruised the rest of the way including striking out the side in the 6th. In the bottom of the 8th inning Joe Madilli came up with 2 outs in the inning and lined a single to left center to keep the inning alive. With Justin Callahan batting Madilli stole 2nd and went to 3rd on a wild pitch. Callahan scratched a walk out and that brought up the always dangerous Frank Galeota. They decided to intentional walk Galeota to load the bases for Corey "Stone Cold Don't Bunt" Hoffman and on a 1-1 pitch Corey lined a single to right to end the game and give Kevin Burg his perfect game and raising his season record to 4-0.
Hoffman Brothers Have Huge Night!!!
On a night that the our pitching was a little off the Hoffman brothers made sure the outcome would be a victory for Kelly Investments. Kevin, Corey, and Ryan Hoffman combined to go 8-12 with 3 doubles, 2 Homeruns, 5 Rbi's, and 7 runs scored leading to a 10-7 victory over West Deptford last night. Steve Roop picked up the victory in relief of Justing Callahan. Brandon Anderson came in and closed the game out in the 7th striking out 2. Next game is tonight against the Roughriders at Radnor Ave.
Casoli Continues Hot Streak!!!!
Ex Dr. Connor and Kelly Investments pitcher Tony Casoli is off to a hot start this season while playing for the Richmond Roosters of the Frontier League. Casoli leads his team in victories with 5 and strikeouts with 54. His 54 strikeouts puts him 1st in the league in strikouts. Here is a picture of Tony signing some autographs at one of his teams most recent game. Click on Tony's face for the picture. Casoli pitched a 7 inning complete game last night winning his 5th straight game. Casoli had a season high 12 strikeouts.
Hey!!! Where Did All The Runs Go???
Kelly Investment's who where averaging 9.6 runs a game in their 1st 7 victories of the season managed only one run last night in a 5-1 defeat to Hardenburg/Pete's. The score was somewhat misleading as Kelly's hit the ball hard all night with nothing to show for it. Frank Galeota (3hits), Brandon Anderson (2 hits), and Nick Sbarra who also chipped in with 2 hits as well as his 1st Home Run of the season accounting for the only run of the night. Mike Pizzitillo pitched into a little hard luch as well and deserved a much better outcome. Next game is tonight at home against Pro.Player Tryouts.
Kelly Investments Stays Hot With 8-5 Victory!!!
Kelly Investments stayed hot with a 8-5 victory last night over a hard hitting Camden squad. Toby Gallagher gutted out a complete game victory. Gallagher gave up 10 hits on the night but was never in any real trouble of losing the game. Frank Galeota, Nick Sbarra and Brandon Anderson who made 4 incredible catches in the outfield all chipped in with 2 hits while Pete Conlin contributed 2 Rbi's. Next game is Tuesday at Hardenburg/Pete's.
Malko Goes Distance In 6-2 Victory!!!!
James "The Milkman" Malko went the distance last night scattering 7 hits while striking out 2 and walking just 1 in a 6-2 victory over Harenburg/Pete's. James also had to bat last night and started off the top of the 3rd inning with a walk which started a 5 run inning. With 1 out and the bases loaded and Kelly Investments holding a 3-1 lead Pete Conlin lined a ball to left center that hit off the top of the fence missing a grand slam by a few feet, the long single plated 2 runs and KI cruised from there. Rich Janofsky continued swinging a hot bat going 3-3 with an Rbi and Dave Koerner got his 1st hit and Rbi of the year with a single in the 7th.
WE FORFEIT!! WE FORFEIT!! WE FORFEIT!!!
For the 1st time in over 630 games and spanning 18 years the Washington Township/Mark W. Edwards/Dr. Connor/Ott's/KI Investments franchise suffered it's first ever forfeit. Not only did we forfeit the game but we could only manage to come up with 4 position players 2 pitchers and Freddy Bianculli who we called at 4:30 and was willing to come out of retirement to help us out. And to add insult to injury we had to pay the $86 dollars for the umpires. The league has a rule if you forfeit 2 times in a season your out. Well, we have one. And with a very solid 15-18 position players and another 6-7 pitchers that should never happen. We have a game that was not originally on the schedule that will be played tomorrow night at 6:10 at the Bellmawr rec field. It's right off of Creek rd going down route 42. Let's hope this is a onetime thing because if it isn't we will be done.
Conlin/Sbarra Have Perfect Nights In 10-1 Victory!!!
Pete Conlin and Nick Sbarra went a combined 6-6 with 2 walks and 5 Rbi's in leading Kelly Investments to there 4th straight win in a 10-1 victory over Bellmawr. Conlin went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 Rbi's while Sbarra went 3-3 with a triple and 3 Rbi's. Newcomer Brandon Anderson chipped in with 2 doubles while knocking in another 3 and stealing 2 bases. James Malko pitched a strong 5 innings in route to his 1st victory of the year. Malko had 7 k's while yeilding just one scratch run. Toby Gallagher pitched 2 perfect innings of relief to finish the game.
Roadrunners At It Again!!!!
GCC products Rich Janofsky and Brandon Anderson both have continued to impress with another offensive barrage last night in leading Kelly Investment's to a 10-1 victory over Cherry Hill West. The Roadrunners combined to go 5-10 with 3 doubles and 7 Rbi's. Janofsky went 2-5 with 2 doubles and 4 Rbi's while Anderson who batted right handed for the first time this summer went 3-5 with a double and 3 Rbi's. Corey "Stone Cold Don't Bunt" Hoffman chipped in with 2 doubles of his own while driving in 1. Kevin Burg who has been the workhorse for the pitching staff early on pitched 4 solid innings to pick up his 3rd win of the season. Mike Alvaro and Toby Gallagher pitched 3 scoreless innings of relief to close the game out. Both games the rest of the week have been cancelled due to graduations. Next game is Monday on the road versus Kepple Carpets.
No World Series Hangover Here!!!
Coming off a World Series Championship while playing for GCC, Brandon Anderson and Rich Janofsky where a 2 man wrecking crew last night. Going a combined 6-9 with 7 Rbi's last night in pacing Kelly Investment's to a 14-3 victory last night over West Deptford. Anderson went 4-5 with 3 Rbi's while batting out of the 2 hole and Janofsky batting in the 3 hole went 2-4 with 4 Rbi's which included a 3 run blast in the bottom of the 4th that put the game away. Kevin Burg pitched 5 strong innings for his 2nd victory of the year. Justin Callahan threw 2 scoreless innings in relief of Burg. Kelly Investments is now 3-0 on the year and has outscored it's opponents 33-3. Next game is friday against Bellmawr at home.
Kelly's Post 2nd Straight Shutout!!!
Mike Pizzitillo and Toby Gallagher combined on a 2 hit shutout in leading Kelly Investments to a 7-0 victory last night in a weather shortened game. Pizz pitched the 1st four innings yielding only 1 hit while striking out 2. Toby Gallagher pitched a scoreless top of the 5th when the umps called the game. The offense was again lead by Corey Hoffman who continued his torrid start with a 2-3 and 2 more Rbi's. Next game is at home on Wednesday against West Deptford.
Kelly Investments Opens Season With 12-0 victory!!!
Kelly Investment used a combination of great pitching and timely hitting in a 12-0 victory over Kepple Carpets last night. James Malko pitched the first 2 innings of shutout ball and Kevin Burg came in and pitched 5 outstanding innings of relief for his 1st victory of the season. The offense was led Corey Hoffman who went 4-5 with a 2b and 2 Rbi's, newcomer Nick Sbarra who went 3-4 with a 2b and 4 Rbi's, and Kevin Hoffman who launched a massive HR to left center in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give KI a 3-0 lead. Friday's game is still up in the air. Will know more by the end of the day.
TOTAL FRUSTRATION!!!!
This pretty much sums up the 15-5 loss we sufferd last night. Check out the video. You can do a right click and save as or just click on it. May take a while to load.
Update And A Stunner!!!!
Well here is an update on the playoffs if anybody has not seen the paper. The Roughriders tied up Kepple Carpets last night which means we will be playing on Sunday. Time of the game will be 5:30. I'll call with details. Camden pulled off a stunner and eliminated Hardenburg/Pete's last night, click on the picture for details. Last I heard had Protryouts.com leading 1-0 and had a lead in a second game that had to picked up from where it left off. I'll keep you posted. See you Sunday!!!
This One Is Going To Leave A Mark!!!
Well fellas this is the 3rd straight year I've had to write a article like this and to be perfectly frank with you it totally sucks. This is the hardest I've ever taken a playoff loss and I can't really say why. Maybe it's the way we lost the two games, maybe I'm just getting a little older and realize my chances of winning another title are slowing slipping away. All I know is this really hurts. But, I will tell you this, I'm coming back next year and probably the year after that and the year after that until we get this title back. I felt very strong about our chances this year with the lineup we could put out there. But, when you play a short series anything can happen and it did. Nothing we can do about it except to suck it up and take our medicine and come back next year and try to get it right. I want to take the time now to thank Danny Barbara who helped me during the year with uniforms, sponsers, phone calls, and many other behind the scenes things this year. Also, a thank you to Kevin Hoffman who made sure we where playing on a playable field by coming out hours before the game to drag, water, and whatever else he needed to do to get the field ready. Also, I want to thank Shea Harris and Ryan Iannelli for making every game this year. It makes my job alot easier knowing you guys where going to be there every game no matter what. And of course I have to thank Mike Koerner, James Malko, and Corey Hoffman for coming out of retirements and helping our squad immensely. I hope you guys enjoyed yourself this summer and hope to have you all back next year and that goes for the rest of you guys who played this year. I may be getting a little soft in my old age but I'm going to miss you guys and can't wait to start playing again next year.
Kelly's Cruises Into Semi's With 7-0 Victory!!!
Kelly Investment's advanced to the Semi's with a 7-0 victory in sweeping the best of 3 series against Dandrea Masonry. Mike Pizzitullo pitched a 5 inning complete game surrendering a scratch single in the 1st. The offense was lead by Mike Koerner who launched a 3 run HR in the bottom of the 4th to put the game out of reach. Corey Hoffman and Pete Conlin also contributed Rbi singles on the night. Kelly's next game is on hold until the Roughriders and Kepple's finish there series. Kepple's is up 1-0. Camden beat Hardenburgh last night to even that series at 1-1. No report on Bellmawr and Protryout.com. Enjoy the couple days we have off and come out ready when the next series opens.
Malko, Offense Lead KI To Playoff Win!!
James Malko pitched 6 strong innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 2 while picking up the victory in Kelly Investments 11-2 decision over Dandrea Masonry. The offense, which exploded for 17 hits was lead by Kevin Hoffman's 4-4 night and Dan Barbara's 3 hits and 2 Rbi's. Pete Conlin, Corey Hoffman, and Shea Harris all had 2 hits. Everybody in the lineup had atleast 1 hit. For a "did you know" side bar, for the 1st time in 15 years Pete Conlin did not hit the 4 hole. Moving himself down to the 5 hole. Mike Koerner had the honor of taking the clean up spot last night.
MISUNDERSTANDING!!!!!
I have to retract my previous post about the league and other teams questioning the eligibility of two of our players. It was all a big misunderstanding. There was a little lack of communication between Rick Ventura and Pete Corelli that caused the fuss. I had called Rick the night of our league meeting and gave him the players that where to be removed from our roster. Rick did not contact Pete about this until the next afternoon. With me not being at the meeting and Pete Corelli not having our roster update caused a little confusion. All is well and let's get ready for the playoffs.
Kelly Investment's Ends Regular Season With 10th Straight!!!
Kelly Investment's ended it's regular season with it's 10th straight victory last night posting a 3-1 victory over Kepple Carpet's. KI ended the season with a 15-6-1 record. Kevin Burg pitched 6 strong innings giving up only 4 hits and 1 un-earned run while James Malko came in and pitched a perfect 7th in notching his 2nd save of the season in as many tries. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th Dave Koerner smashed a double doen the left field line to drive in Ryan Iannelli and Corey Hoffman (2 hits), Mike Koerner followed with an Rbi single to finish the scoring. Playoffs will start on Monday at home.
DAN BARBARA HITS #100!!!!!
Dan Barbara who is one of the most prolific HR hitters in South Jersey amateur baseball history connected on his 100th of his Tri County career. Barbara hit a titanic blast to right field in the 1st inning and finished the game 3-3 with a walk. If you click on Dan's picture it will take you to the Courier Post that put it in an article about half way down the page. Pretty weak by the paper but it looks like the Tri Co wasn't going to get any ink at all. Mike Pizzitullo pitched a 5 inning complete game shuout in picking up the victory.
Kelly's Continues To Roll!!!
Kelly's Investments raised it's unbeaten streak to 7 with a 5-3 victory over ProTryouts.com. Toby Gallagher picked up the win after going 4 strong innings. Dave Koerner came in and picked up the save after relieving James Malko. Pete Conlin went 3-3 with a double and Rbi while Justin Callahan had a 2 Rbi single to lead the offense.
Kelly's Investment's Wins On Late Error!!!
Trailing 3-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning Kelly Investments pushed across the tying run on Kevin Hoffmans sac fly. Corey Hoffman lead off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, after a fielders choice Dan Barbara laced a line drive down the left field line putting runners at 1st and 3rd. Pete Conlin followed with a walk to load the bases and Kevin Hoffman hit an 0-2 pitch to left center to push Mike Koerner home. Kevin Burg pitched 7 gutty innings before giving way to Toby Gallagher in the 8th. In the bottom of the inning Shea Harris (3 hits) and Justin Heller (2 hits) both walked, Ryan Ianelli than put down a sac bunt that the pitcher tried to throw to 3rd but the throw sailed into left field giving Kelly's the 4-3 victory. Toby "The Vulture" Gallagher picked up the win in relief.
Season Extended One Week!!!!
At the league meeting it was decided to extend the regular season for 1 week so teams can try and make up as many games as possible. The latest that the season could possibly end is Aug. 12th. Our playoffs will start on Monday Aug. 2nd. Time and opponent to be determined. As of now we will have a make up next Tuesday at Cherry Hill. We are looking to schedule home games on Monday and Thursday if we have our field. Currently we are in 2nd place in the standings. Hardenburb/Pete's is in 1st with a 14-4-1 record, Roughriders and us are tied with a 11-6-1 record but we would have them on a tie-breaker, Protryout.com is 10-9, Cherry Hill is 8-9-1 and Dandrea is 8-6. All Good Things Must Come To An End!!!
We had one helluva run fellas!! Winning 5 titles in a row and making it to the championship round 9 straight years will never be matched in this league ever again. And I don't know about the rest of you but I can't wait for next year so we can start a new streak. This taste of losing is something I'm not used to and I don't like at all. I just want to tell you guys that this team means the world to me and I hope that we keep this same group of guys together for years to come. The friendships that we have developed on this team thru the years is second to none and thats what makes this team so great. We have stayed together for many summers and have had some great memories and don't forget that. So let's put this year behind us and be prepared to get that title back which deep down everybody knows is ours. I also want to take the time and thank Dan Barbara who has been the backbone of this team from day 1. Not only for his playing abilities but for the stuff he does behind the scenes. The amount of time and effort he puts into this team is like having a 3rd job during the summer. So hats off to you Hanna!!! See you guys next year!!!
No Tri-County Champion For 2003!!!
For those of you who have not heard, there will be no winner in the 2003 Tri-County season. Roberto Clemente used numerous players that where not on their playoff roster and numerous ugly confrontations with players, fans, and umpires. Hardenburg\Pete's decided not to protest the illegal players and just play the series out. In the bottom of the 3rd a Clemente baserunner ran into the 1st baseman and a scuffle broke out. Police had to be called and the commisioner of the league decided not to finish or try to play game three. The coaches will be meeting Tuesday night to decide whether to keep Clemente in the league. I'll keep you posted.

HOFFMAN TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT!!

All you need to know about Corey is he is a flat out winner and would run over his mother if it meant the winning run. And by the way, Stone Cold doesn't bunt!!!
