The American Development Model (ADM) Explained
We would like to cordially invite you to the West Michigan American Development Model discussion on Wednesday, January 13th at Kentwood Fine Arts Auditorium from 7-9 pm, located on the East Kentwood High School campus just off Kalamazoo Ave. north of M-6. This large scale introduction of the American Development Model (ADM) is meant to highlight the positive and long lasting implications of the ADM on youth hockey here in the United States.
This is a once in a generation opportunity for our children’s development and the growth as hockey players and athletes in general. The meeting is designed to be an educational and informative opportunity that will present several proposals up for discussion and slated for implementation here in West Michigan for the 2010/2011 season. The committee sees this as an opportunity for West Michigan to take a leadership role in hockey player development in the State of Michigan. The committee would like as many board members, coaches and parents in the audience as possible to hear firsthand what the long term benefits will be of the proposed changes. American Development Model Regional Manger, Bob Mancini will be presenting the model as well as answering your questions. As a fun door prize, all attending will have the opportunity to win an Alex Ovechkin signed jersey! The West Michigan American Developmental Model Committee looks forward to seeing you on December 9th!
Sincerely,
Ron Baum, Todd Bell, Joel Breazeale, Richard Keyes, Jean Laxton, Travis Richards & Mike Slobodnik

Dear Mom and Dad,
I hope you won't get mad at me for writing this letter but you always told me never to keep anything back, so here it goes.
Remember the other morning when my team was playing and both of you were watching? Well, Mom and Dad. I hope you won't get mad, but you kind of embarrassed me.
Remember when I went after the puck in front of the net trying to score and I fell down? Well Mom I could hear you yelling at the goalie for getting in my way. It wasn't even his fault. That is what he is supposed to do.
Then do you remember yelling at me to get on the other side of the blue-line. Well, Mom I just didn't know what to do because the coach told me to cover my man, and I couldn't if I listened to you. So while I was trying to decide what to do they scored against us. Then you yelled at me for being in the wrong place.
But, what really got me was what happened after the game. You should not have jumped all over the coach for pulling me off the ice. He's a pretty good hockey coach and he knows what he was doing. Besides, he is just a volunteer trying to help us kids out.
And then neither of you spoke to me the whole way home. I guess you were pretty mad at me for not getting a goal. I tried really hard but I guess I'm not a good player. But I love to play Hockey. It's a lot of fun being with the other kids and learning to compete in a real good sport.
But Mom and Dad, how can I learn if you don't show me a good example? And, anyway, I thought I was playing hockey for fun; to have a good time; and learn good sportsmanship.
I didn't know you were going to get so mad when I didn't become a star.
Love,
Your Kid
