The Kentwood Falcons 95 hosted the GRAHA Griffins #1 team in a non-league scrimmage. The Falcons worked hard but were out-classed against their cross town opponents 7-1.
Then the team took to the road on Sunday against the Motor City Chiefs a new opponent that the Falcons had never faced. After opening up a large lead the Falcons finished off the Chiefs 8-4 to make their league record 2 Wins and 1 Loss. Team speed, passing and teamwork were evident all over the ice. Scoring was spread pretty evenly with 6 different Falcons lighting the lamp. The game had a total of 24 penalties (14 Chiefs and 10 for the Falcons) so it was hard to get a flow. The Falcons scored 3 short handed goals during the contest.
If you are in town this weekend you should plan on being at Kentwood Ice Arena for some hard hitting action on Sunday 11/8/09 at 1:30 pm as the Falcons take on League Opponent the Canton Eagles 95. This game had to be rescheduled due to the Eagles being hit with the flu bug. The team record now stands at 9-6 after fifteen games for a winning percentage of .600 for the season overall.
The Falcons will be facing off in the Midland Regional Silver Sticks Tournament in December. More information to follow.

Unfortunately Goalie Steven Wangler has been lost for the season with a knee injury. We wish for a speedy and full recovery to Steven with his surgery and rehab. If anyone knows of any 95 goalies that are looking for a home it looks as if the team will have to find a replacement for this season.
