We are very excited to announce that the KYFL will be returning to the NIKE Coach of the Year Clinic for 2012. We are able to present programs specifically designed to address the issues unique to youth football while also exposing our coaches to some of the most successful High School and College Coaches in the nation. A special "thank you" to Earl Browning who administrates the NIKE program for making this happen.
Welcome to the Kentuckiana Youth Football League, Inc. This wonderful endeavor founded in 2000 is the largest youth football league operated solely by volunteers in the nation. It is comprised of teams in Jefferson County and adjacent counties. Our mission is to provide the premier youth football organization by methodical proactiveness ensuring a league in which everyone will be proud to participate. This Kaizan approach to our organization reinforces the need to nurture the youth while continuously improving our product. Since its inception, the league continues to be governed solely by volunteers endeavoring to provide a positive indelible impression on our youths.
The Paradigm has changed!
New changes to the business model and structure of the KYFL were introduced to all League Presidents on December 9, 2011. Having been researched since August; changes were implemented to further strengthen each program. These were based on sound economic principles allowing each program to grow by reducing overhead and other fixed costs while increasing registrations, gate attendance, & concession sales.
Safety still Paramount to the KYFL!
As always, all games are mandated to have a uniformed Police Officer on duty. All of our fields of play are inspected and approved by the Kentucky Football Officials Association. All games are officiated by skilled and certified referrees. The safety change for 2012 requires all League Presidents to pass annual criminal background checks conducted by the Kentucky State Police and provide copies of those to the League office. This new threshold provides an additional level of security to be expected for any person of influence having access to children. Any program unwilling or unable to submit this information will forfeit their position within the KYFL.
KYFL Inaugural Coach the Kids Clinic a Phenominal Success! 2012 announcement coming!
The states first Clinic designed exclusively for youth football coaches was held on February 27, 2011 at the Fern Valley Convention Center in Louisville. With over 230 coaches registered, everyone was treated to first class seminars from some of the states most successful High School coaches, KFOA assigning official, Orthopedic Surgeon, and an outstanding buffet luncheon with USA Football regional representative, Deno Campbell. Well everyone, mark your calendars for the last weekend in February 2012..
Annual KYFL All-Star Classic
The 2nd annual All-Star game for a Jefferson County Youth Football League was held November 19, 2011.
A special "Thank You" to Stuart Middle School for hosting these 4 games at their wonderful venue.
With 85 teams it was a daunting task to muster distinguished players chosen by their coaches. With so many deserving players, the rosters were finally reduced into manageable quantities. Coaches and players then spent nightly practice sessions under lighted fields in preparation for this brotherly event. The League has seemingly reached a point of "critical mass" thanks to the wonderful participants.
The All-Star games were very competitive with 3 of 4 games not being decided until the final play.
The 2011 Playoffs witnessed 85 teams competing to win their respective division or tier.
Congratulations to the following League Champions in each division and Conference.
