Congratulations Bulldogs Red!
For the 3rd time, in the last 10 years, a KYB 13U team has won the 13U division of Sandy Koufax.
An incredible weekend of baseball was turned in by the Kent Bulldogs 13U Red team in the Sandy Koufax State Championship Tournament. Beginning the weekend as the #2 seed they advanced to the finals with a 4-1 record with 3 mercy wins.
The championship game was as it should be, against the #1 seed, league leaders and cross town rivals the SPS Shockers.
In a game that started tight, with incredible play by both sides the Bulldogs broke open and scored 9 in the third sending 13 to the plate to put away the Shockers in 5 innings and bring home the crown with a 13-0 victory.
This is the 4th age group title in a row for the manager Steve Wright and most of this powerful team from the Kent area. Several key pitching and defensive performances were turned in all weekend. The team batted .359 while scoring 55 runs in the 6 games. Thanks go to the parents, coaching staff and incredible hard work by the players for this hard won title.
The team is off to Steamboat Springs, CO for the Triple Crown Baseball World Series 13U division for a week beginning August 4.
Go Bulldogs!
