AHRENS NAMED RRAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior outfielder Steve Ahrens was named the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts during the span of March 20-26. Ahrens led HBU to a doubleheader sweep of Wiley College on the road in the team's only action of the week.
Ahrens batted .625, going 5-8 with a homer, triple, stolen base and five RBI in two wins in Marshall on Friday as the Huskies opened defense of their Red River title.
Houston Baptist University is now 21-5 on the season, and 2-0 in the RRAC. The Huskies are ranked No. 5 in the nation, and hit the diamond again on Wednesday, taking on Southern Arkansas University in a noon twin-bill.
