UMKC Softball

Hi, my name is Jaime Gilchrist formerly known as Jaime McGrath. I played Division 1 softball for Illinois Central College and University of Missouri @ Kansas City. I was wondering if anyone on your team needed or wanted any softball lessons. I have played softball since I was 6 and played for many great and well known summer teams as well as the Pekin Lettes which is a womens ameteur fastpitch team who plays against some of the best college athletes ever! I now live in Kansas City with my family but was originally from Illinois. I played middle infield mainly but also have played 3rd base, pitched, and caught as well. If there is anyone who is interested just give me a call at 816-520-3140 or email me at stephengilchrist@comcast.net. Thanks and good luck!

Pitch for the Cure

Pitch for the Cure is only 5 weeks away but we have room for girls’ fastpitch teams and women’s slowpitch teams!!  (Pass it on)

This special softball tournament takes places June 23-25th in Springdale, AR which is approx. 1 ½ hour E of Tulsa & 4 hours S of Kansas City.  We send you this message in hopes that your team(s) will have interest in joining us for the first annual Pitch for the Cure NIT Tournament.

We will unite regional softball teams in an event to raise team funds and support the Ozark Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  This three day USSSA NIT tourney has a 3-game guarantee for girls' fastpitch brackets:  10U, 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U and offers games for women's slowpitch corporate/church teams.  The event promotes breast health in our community to women of all ages as well as the importance of supporting our girls in sports as a positive life choice.  We also hope to boost fastpitch softball in our geographic region.

With Schutt Sports as our top sponsor, we hope to raise $12,000 dollars for Ozark Komen.  EACH player receives a Schutt helmet sack filled with various donated products PLUS the top winner in each fastpitch age bracket receives Schutt softball helmets in team colors for each player as part of their award!

We provide game balls, scorekeeper/scoreboard, and teams do NOT pay gate attendees’ entrance fee.

Besides tournament play, our weekend includes team t-shirt contests, a home run derby (additional proceeds for Komen), vendors and an awesome silent auction.  Join us for this first of its kind softball event on June 23-25th, 2006 in Springdale, AR.  Show your support for these great causes and have a great time!  Online registration or print-for-mail forms can be found at:  http://www.pitchforthecure.org/

ACT FAST to get your FastPitch Footnotes included in the event program!
These are small text only notes that you can send to one another, your team, coach, parents, other teams, etc.  Parents, friends and grandparents can also purchase them for your team to wish good luck.  These notes will appear throughout the event book.  They are $10.00 per note which includes up to 100 characters.  Besides showing your own team spirit, these funds help us reach that $12,000 goal for Komen!  For more details and the print form:  http://pitchforthecure.org/footnote-form.pdf

We also invite you or your team to honor your loved ones that have battled breast cancer during a candle ceremony that takes place on Saturday night of the tourney.  For a $5.00 contribution, we will light a pink votive candle and announce the name of your honoree.  Each honoree will be listed in the program (if rec’d by 5-31-06) and on the website.  This is for anyone that has battled breast cancer...whether they are currently fighting, surviving the disease or lost their battle.  http://pitchforthecure.org/tribute-form.pdf
