"HOME OF THE KC ROYALS"

Welcome to the home of the  2012 13U KC Royals

13U KC Royals was a newly formed baseball team from Kansas City, Mo. in 2010. The first KC Royals team was formed in 1996 with a goal to assemble a team of players with a passion for the game of baseball and to help players develop their skills to the level matching their individual goals. Every year since 1996 the KC Royals skill level improved considerably from beginning to season end and in 2011 the trend continued.

What is this statement based on?   RESULTS

Through the 17 years of existence, the KC Royals have enjoyed a lot of success, made unlimited memories and a lifetime of friendships. This is the third team I have started as my two older boys moved on to play college baseball.  Several KC Royals players have been Blessed to receive college baseball scholarships and a few the great fortune of being drafted to the MLB with the most recent a 3rd round pick of the Chicago White Sox. This is a direct result of players that listen, the desire to improve and coaches with baseball knowledge with a truly caring attitude for the players. I have coached for 18 years with experience from T-Ball, Competitive Youth Baseball, High School and College Showcase teams. The three years I coached the College Showcase circuit, all 21 high school seniors were offered college scholarships at varying levels (NAIA and NCAA).

2011 was an exciting year as we had a lot of learning and hard work to accomplish.  2010 was our first year and we won the AA World Series. 2011 the team moved to the AAA level and proved to be one of the stronger teams in the Missouri/Kansas area.  It was a roller coaster ride for the most part but ended very positive with our final games played in Cooperstown, New York. This tournament hosted 104 teams. The first 6 games were pool play where the KC Royals schedule proved to be the second hardest of the 104 teams. However, strong play by the team allowed the boys to show very well. The excitement was outstanding and quality play was displayed at every game.  Throughout the season the team received many compliments from varying umpires with how the boys play the game with heart and the correct way.  This theme continued at Cooperstown with umpires from across the country and first time watching the boys play.

2012 will also be a challenging and exciting year. The team will start the season listed at the AAA level with plans to play in several open tournaments to gain the exposure to the major teams. We will evaluate our level of play to ensure the team is always being challenged. How much the team improves is yet to be determined but I would bet it will be a challenging yet successful season.

Coaching will:
1. Stress the importance of knowing the rules, respect the game, umpires, teammates, opponents, parents and themselves.
2. Stress the importance of hard work and developing an off-season/in-season training schedule which occurs outside of practices and games,
3. Teach muscle memory for the various phases of the game by developing proper mechanics, and
4. Teach the importance of developing core strength.

2012 will truly be an exciting and successful year!

How do we know that?

Hard work, committed players and parents, strong competition as well as good coaching has proved to be the answer to success, just as it is with life itself.

What are the team goals for 2012?

We will compete in a competitive league and tournaments and though we believe winning is very important our primary goal will be to focus on developing their life skills as well as their playing skills as we realize this will ultimately equate to success for each of them. The coaching staff wants to instill a strong work ethic into the players so each player can realize significant skill improvement. We want the players to create new friends and learn a bit about life while having some fun doing it.

TEAM MISSION:
1. Master solid baseball fundamentals,
2. Learn to handle challenges of the game so we can better handle challenges of life,
3. Learn to understand that before one can succeed we must first fail.

As you can see, the coaches aren't just teaching baseball but also teaching LIFE.

We believe this will better prepare the Royals players for the curves life brings.
