ABOUT KC POWER

KC POWER Volleyball Club is a USA Volleyball sanctioned club entering its 13th year of existence. We provide a healthy, structured and supportive environment for growth and development of young women athletes.  KC POWER is recognized throughout the national volleyball community as a club with great integrity and superb athletic achievement. KC POWER teams consistently compete at the highest level nationally in USA Volleyball events, and have placed 1st, 3rd and 5th nationally in the Open division over the past several years. The teams compete in local, regional and national tournaments, which are held in convention-center venues throughout the country in cities like Denver, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Omaha, and Las Vegas. KC POWER is a growing organization comprised of teams ranging in age from 12 through 18 year–old girls. The club has quickly grown to be one of the more respected volleyball organizations for young women in the country.   KC POWER is a volleyball organization that is well known for its continuous success year after year in developing young athletes into exceptional volleyball players. Several KC POWER alumni players have or are now playing volleyball in college at: University of Kansas, Kansas State University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Washburn University, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Central Missouri State, Missouri State, University of Denver, Jacksonville University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee & Benedictine, to name a few. 

KC POWER Volleyball Club is a non-profit organization directed by Gwenn Pike, Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Bishop Miege High School. KC POWER is solely funded by player fees and is not currently affiliated with any corporate sponsorship.  KC POWER continues to develop young athletes and experience great success under the direction, coaching and leadership of Coach Gwenn Pike. Her integrity and willingness to further the opportunities for young female athletes are respected and admired by her peers throughout the country.  On June 28, 2006, Coach Pike was inducted in to the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Her Bishop Miege Stags are the 2010 Kansas Class 5-A State Champions, Sub-State Champions and EKL League Champions.  Coach Pike is the 2008 Class 5-A Kansas Volleyball Coach of the Year.  Coach Pike holds the record for the most wins as a high school coach in the State of Kansas posting a historic match record of 1046 wins and 198  loss record (as of 10/31/10) and has won 18 State Championship titles.  Coach Pike celebrated her 30th anniversary in 2009 as the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Bishop Miege High School.

 2010 was a great season for KC Power Teams.  5 KC Power Teams qualified to compete in the 2010 USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championships in Reno, NV with 4 of the 5 competing in the highest level of their age group.   The 17-1 Team (ranked # 3 in the Country for 2010) were the 2009 USA VOLLEYBALL JUNIOR OLYMPIC 16 OPEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!  All of the members of the KC Power 17-1 who have chosen to play volleyball in college have verbally committed to play at Wichita State University, Lipscomb University, University of South Carolina, University of Oklahoma and North Texas State University.
