Rockets take 1st at Monster Bash

Rockets Wrap up Fall Season

Another great weekend to finish up the Fall season for the Rockets.  The team went 4-1-1 at the MSP Exposure event  including a 3-2 victory over a very fine St. Louis Lasers team.  The Rockets scored victories over the Dominators, the Wichita Wave, the STL Lasers and the Heartbreakers.  The team's only loss was to the BS Ice who went 6-0 for the tourney.  The Rockets finish the Fall season with a record of 14-4-1 with 1st at the Monster Bash and a 2nd at the Cap City Classic.  A very strong showing as we move into the winter workouts.  Go ROCKETS!

Rockets Take 1st at Monster Bash!

The Rockets finished out a great tournament going 6-0 for the Championship.  The team surrendered no runs in pool play and entered Sunday ready to play ball.  The 14U Flash team provided great competition with the Rockets coming out ahead 3-1.  Next up were the Diamond Devils in what turned into a slugfest.  The Rockets came out ahead 5-4 by effectively ending a rally by the Diamond Devils on a double play during an attempted squeeze play.  The championship game against the Mac-n-Seitz Naturals was anything but a slugfest!  Both pitchers dominated until the Rockets managed to get a runner to third and suicide squeeze the run home in the bottom of the 6th.  The Rockets then closed out the Naturals in the 7th to take a hard fought 1-0 victory in the Championship.  The team played nearly error free all weekend with great pitching from every staff member and key hitting (and bunting) when it needed to get done!  Great work Rockets.

Also, congrats to our Rocket sisters on the 18U Gold and 14U A teams for also taking home the Championships in their divisions at the Monster Bash.

Rockets Finish 2nd at Capital City Classic

The 16A Rockets started the season off strong finishing 2nd in the 18U division at the Capital City Classic in Topeka.  On Saturday the Rockets defeated the KC Explosion 4-3 and the ESC Black 4-0 while dropping games to the eventual champions, ESC Red by a score of 3-1 and also losing to the Heartbreakers 6-4.  In bracket play the Rockets started the day with a victory over Mac-n-Seitz Naturals followed by a victory over the undefeated KC Athletics Black.  They provided a repeat of the last year’s championship game between the Rockets and the ESC Red.  The Rockets once again lost to a very fine ESC Red team and took home 2nd place.  A great showing for the Rockets to start our 08-09 season!
