ZIGS CRUSH WEBMASTER C ! ! !
Web C Challenge
Zigs, Webmaster C, and Mayor of Fairfield Immediately Following Mile Run

Zigs Employ Variation Of "Rope A Dope" Technique To Outwit The Befuddled Webmaster

And we thought we had seen it all in sports. First the Jets and Joe Namath beat the Baltimore Colts in the 1968 Super Bowl; then the NY Mets somehow managed to win the 1969 Worlds Series; in 1980 we watched the Americans perform the Miracle on Ice; in 1990, Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson---and finally, the Bengals actually won 8 games last year.

But nothing, and we mean nothing, could prepare us for the carnage witnessed at the Fairfield Intermediate School on April 1 around 6:25 p.m. during the 1st annual Webmaster C Mile Challenge Race. The crowd watched in awe as Webmaster C limped in behind a triumphant Zig who somehow managed to lull him to sleep on the final stretch of the run. Thinking this Zig (just a half step ahead of him on the final turn) had nothing left in her, Webmaster C blinked as she turned on the afterburners down the home stretch and literally ran him off of the track.

Now Webmaster C must live with his shame as he pays homage to the Zigs for the rest of the Spring 2004 season by wearing the shirt of subservience.

Next Up: Webmaster C TWO Mile Challenge Race (date, time and location to be determined)

U-13 Zigs Are TCYSA U-14 Division Champions!

U-13 Zigs Defeat KSC Ben-Gals For 7th Win In A Row In Fall 2003 Season Finale

The U-13 KSC Zigs defeated the KSC Ben-Gals by a score of 3-2 on Sunday, November 2 in their last game of the season. This win sealed the League Championship which saw the team complete the Fall 2003 season with a TCYSA League record of 6-1-1.

Congratulations Zigs on a great season!

Congratulations Zigs!

The KSC Zigs were crowned Warrior Classic Tournament Champions on Monday, May 26 after defeating Ohio Premier Green in the U-12 Gold (top) Division Final. The Zigs were undefeated in this Tournament, winning 5 games over 3 days, including the Championship game in a double-overtime thriller, 2-1.

ZIGS VAULT INTO U-12 SEASON!

Coach Smallwood Accepts Championship Trophy

The KSC Zigs began their U-12 year on a high note by winning the Girls U-12 Championship at the Heartland Festival Tournament in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on August 18, 2002.

The Zigs were undefeated in this Tournament and won the Championship game by a score of 4-1. Overall the Zigs scored 15 goals and held their opponents to only 2.

The KSC Zigs would like to thank the Heartland Festival Tournament and the City of Elizabethtown for their gracious hospitality and for making us feel very welcome in their city.

Congratulations Zigs.

Zigs Wrap Up 2nd Place Finish in TCYSA!!!

The KSC Zigs defeated the GSE Cardinals on Sunday, November 10 in their season finale by a score of 4-2. This win gives the Zigs a second place finish in the "A" Division of the Tri County Youth Soccer Association. This makes the KSC Zigs the second ranked team out of a total of 55 select teams in the Greater Cincinnati U-12 Division. The girls finished the Fall 2002 season with a record of 5 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties.

The Zigs entered three Tournaments this season (one playing up as U-13). The team came away from Tournament play with two Tournament Championships, a record of 9-1-1, with 29 goals scored and only 4 goals scored against them in 11 Tournament games.

Congratulations Zigs on a great season!

Next up: Spring 2003.

Zigs Ranked 4th In the City!

The Zigs Completed their Spring Season on Sunday, June 16 with a record of 5-4-1. This record ranks the Zigs as the 4th best U-11 Team in Greater Cincinnati. A fantastic season saw the Zigs defeat every team they played at least once except the League Champion, Cardinals Premier. In addition, the Zigs were the only team in the U-11 "A" Division who were not shutout in a single game. Given this was the Zigs very first season in "A" Division, it was a great accomplishment.

Congratulations Zigs on a GREAT season!!! The Zigs look forward to moving to "A" Division U-12 in the Fall of 2002.

KSC ZIGS ARE TCYSA "B" DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!

Zigs Get Ready to Rock Just Before Final Game of Fall 2001

On Sunday, November 11, the KSC Zigs finished a long season by playing the WC Cobras for the TCYSA "B" Division Championship. The two teams went into this Championship game separated by only 1 point. A Zig win would give them the League title; a win or tie by the WC Cobras would give them the Championship. In an extremely close match, the Zigs prevailed by a score of 2-1.

The KSC Zigs would like to congratulate the Cobras on a great season and thank the other "B" Division teams for an extremely competitive year. The Zigs are well aware that this particular game and the season in general could have gone many ways given the excellent teams involved.

The Zigs look forward to playing in the "A' Division next year and seeing some of our old "friends." Look out cause the Zigs are back baby!!!

Congratulations Zigs!

Zigs Play Tough at United Cup Tournament!
United Cup 2001 Cover
Zigs Just Before United Cup Tounament Game 3 Sunday, Sept. 23

The KSC Zigs left the United Cup Tournament winning 2 games and losing 1 September 22-23. While playing well, the girls learned how unforgiving a 3 game Tournament can be. Although the Zigs scored 9 goals in three games while only allowing 1 goal to be scored against them, they still failed to make the Tournament Championship. Their one loss came in their first game against the Mad River Mustangs (1-0) who ultimately won the Tournament Championship for our age group.

Zigs Reach Dayco Championship!
Dayco2001runner
KSC Zigs: Dayco 2001 Runner-Up

Labor Day saw the KSC Zigs reach the Championship Game of the U-11 Gold Division at the Dayco 2001 Tournament. The Zigs lost the final by the closest of margins (1-0), to a spirited Ohio Premier (Black) team. This is the same team the Zigs had previously beaten the day before by a score of 2-1 (Ohio Premier reached the Championship as a wild card). The Zigs posted a 4-1 record at Dayco with a scoring margin of 11-2, including three shutouts.

While the girls were naturally disappointed by the loss, they can take comfort in the fact that since they have converted to the 11 v 11 format, they have played in two Tournaments, winning 8 games and losing only 1, with 1 outright Championship and 1 "runner-up" placement.

Congratulations Zigs! We couldn't be prouder of you!

How Sweet It Is!!!

Miami Classic Tournament Champs 2001

The KSC Zigs are Tournament Champions of the 2001 Miami Spring Classic Blue U-10 Division. They won the Championship Finale on April 29 in impressive fashion by defeating their opponent by a margin of 8-0.

This win completed a perfect Tournament record of 4-0 as the girls outscored the teams they played by a margin of 22-1.

Congratulations Zigs!!!

Zigs Roar Into New Season!!!
The KSC Zigs completed the first Tournament of their U-11 season on Sunday, August 5 by capturing the Northmont Bolt Cup Championship. On a hot summer afternoon Northwest of Dayton, the Zigs won the Championship Game in shutout fashion, 3-0.

While this alone was impressive enough, we are even more proud of the girls considering they were playing "up" for this Tournament in the U-12 Division. This weekend marked their first games ever played in an 11 v 11 format. Their hard worked netted them 3 shutouts in 4 games played, with an overall scoring margin of 18-1.

Congratulations Zigs!!

Zigs Rule Springblast U-10 Gold Division!!!
The KSC Zigs clinched the top spot in the top girl's U-10 Division of the Middletown Springblast Tournament (aka "Freezer Bowl II) on Sunday, March 25. Noon game time temperature was 29 degrees with winds of 15-20 mph. This didn't "chill" Zig enthusiasm as the girls went undfeated in their Division (the only team to do so) by outscoring opponents by a margin of 18-5.

Great job girls!!!

ZIGS REACH JR. IRISH TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP!
Coach Randy
Coach Waldrum Signing Autographs
The KSC Zigs qualified to play in Championship Game of the Jr. Irish Tournament at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana on Memorial Day, May 28. They reached this Final game by beating their first 4 opponents through the weekend by a margin of 18-4. In a hard fought Final, the Zigs lost to the Cougars SC out of St. Louis, Missouri by a score of 3-0.

One of the highlights of the weekend, however, was a meeting the team had with Coach Randy Waldrum on Friday night before the Tournament began. Coach Waldrum heads up the Notre Dame, NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Team. Notre Dame has one of the top women's college soccer programs in the country and was ranked #1 in the nation for most of last season.

In addition to signing autographs for our team (see photo above), coach Waldrum addressed the girls and welcomed any questions they had. His talk gave great insights into what women's soccer is like at the Division I college level while giving them an "inside" look specifically at Notre Dame women's soccer program. Coach Waldrum also gave our team 3 great messages:

1. A young athlete's #1 priority should be his or her grades in school.

2. You should be having fun playing soccer. If you aren't having fun, you're missing the best thing about it.

3. At the end of the game, season, or Tournament, never forget that soccer is just a game.

The KSC Zigs are deeply appreciative of the time Coach Waldrum spent with us.
