2008 Golf Tournament

I want to welcome all the Freshman parents and returning parents to another great year of Beaver Baseball.  We now are an official 501c3 non-profit organization “Karns Baseball Club”. Over the next three months we have a lot on our fundraising schedule.

Our first big project will be the annual golf tournament held at Centennial Golf Course on Saturday, September 6 at 12:00pm in Oak Ridge.  I have attached the registration form for the Tournament and Hole sponsorship.

Each player will need to sell one hole sponsorship at $150.00. We ask all players and parents to sell 2 sponsorships if possible.

Tell everyone you know that loves to play golf to come support KHS Baseball.  It will be a four man scramble and lunch is included. Cost per player is $80.

WE NEED EVERYONE TO ATTEND THIS MEETING.  WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE GOLF TOURNAMENT, UT CONCESSIONS AND COACH RICE WILL TALK ABOUT FALL WORKOUTS.  PLEASE MARK THIS ON YOUR CALENDARS.

I do not have everyone’s e-mail addresses yet, so please pass the word around about this Meeting on 8/7/08 at 7:00pm KHS

Thank you,

Fred Dillon

2008 Johnson City Sports Foundation High School and Junior College Showcase

Attention: Junior and Senior Players, Coach Rice wanted you to be aware of the following:

Announcing the First Johnson City Sports Foundation High School and Junior College Baseball Showcase.

The Johnson City Sports Foundation is the managing entity of the Johnson City Cardinals Professional Baseball Team. We are very excited to offer this opportunity for all baseball players seeking an opportunity to be seen by college and pro scouts, all 2009 or 2010 baseball players at your high school, or any 2008 baseball players that have not signed a college scholarship, or any Junior College players that would be interested in exposure to college and pro scouts, are invited to attend the Inaugural Johnson City Cardinals showcase.
This Inaugural Showcase will be held on Saturday August 30, 2008, and Sunday, August 31, 2008. The event will be held at the Cardinal Park in Johnson City, TN. (Home of the Johnson City Cardinals and The ETSU Buccaneers).
Players attending the showcase will participate in-front of College and Pro Scouts. Schools throughout the region will be invited too attend along with several Pro Scouts that are associated with the Johnson City Cardinals. In addition the NCAA compliance director for ETSU will have a presentation and question and answer session for parents that will cover many issues concerning NCAA clearinghouse and scholarships. We will also have a financial aid presentation that will cover options for potential college funding in addition to scholarships for each of the college division levels. These seminars alone are worth the cost of the showcase.

I hope that you will pass this information to deserving baseball prospects. They or you can send their contact information to info@jccardinals.com or call 423- 461-4866, to get an official registration form. All registrations must be in by August 15, 2008.

Congratulations to the Six Seniors Signed to Play College Baseball

Ty Towe has signed a committment letter to play at Milligan College.  Please see the excerpt below from the June 8th edition of the Knoxville News-Sentinel for the other five players at Karns who have signed.  Ty just recently committed to Milligan College, so he is not mentioned in the article.

"Karns' baseball team, which finished 21-12 this past season, has produced five junior college signees: infielder Coty Pate and outfielder Logan Hammontree (Walters State), pitcher Jonathan Prior (Cleveland State) and infielder Brian Fogarty and catcher Brandon Vanosdale (Roane State)."
