The Kannapolis Komets Girls Basketball club faired well in the USBA State Championship Tournament, played at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail, NC. The 14 and under team went 2-1 in the two day event, losing to Gaston County Power NC Flight and eventual State Champ in a semi-final game. All everything Alleson Briggs, A.L. BROWN'S SARA TUTTLE, Katelyn Cline, and Bree Townsend led a team effort, which featured a Saturday afternoon victory over Stanly County Rival Stanly Stars.

ALSO REPRESENTING THE KANNAPOLIS CITY SCHOOLS WITH THE KOMETS 14 AND UNDER TEAM WERE KATIE BELK, SIGRUN KRAHE, KAYLA CRAYTON, AND MEGAN SHUE.

The 13 and under team, recently ranked #1 Nationally, finished as runner-ups to State Champ Lake Norman Magic. Zana Tatum and KMS Star Raven Phifer along with Taylor Sehm-Crowley paced the 13 u effort, as they went 4-1.

The 14 and under team will travel to China Grove's Carson High School next week to tangle with the Carson Varsity, a member of the NPC.
