Kakabeka Rural Baseball: Welcome
Wednesday May 29, 2013
SCHEDULES:
June schedules are now available, and are posted under 'Handouts'.
RAINOUTS:
We make every effort to get the games in as scheduled, but on the rare occasion that it must be cancelled due to weather, the coaches of the teams scheduled to play will make a mutually agreeable decision on whether or not to play. Quite often the weather at the field is different than it is in town, or in some neighbouring townships - if in doubt, contact your coach. If you don't hear that the game is cancelled, plan on playing.
COACHES / UMPIRES:
We do require additional coaches, umpires, and divisional reps to assist with the 2013 season. We currently do not have enough volunteers to fill the current needs. While coaching may seem challenging and time consuming, putting together a combination of three or four individuals results in a shared workload and less demands on everyone's time. Please consider submitting a coaching roster for any of our age divisions: TBall (3,4,5), Novice (6,7,8), Atom (9,10,11) or Peewee (12+).
As indicated during registration, we are hoping to start the week of May 13 but please remember this is weather dependant. You will be contacted by the executive or coaching staff, once teams and schedules are finalized over the next week.
--------------------------------
The Kakabeka Rural baseball league is a local, volunteer run organization that provides children the opportunity to be active and participate in baseball. We offer divisions for T-Ball (ages 3,4,5), Novice (6,7,8), Atom (9,10,11) and PeeWee(12+).
Our league runs from the beginning of May until mid June, ending off with a fun filled Wind-Up day at the end of the season. Previous years events included a Mystery Hit contest, Water Balloon toss, and Round Robin playoff system.
As the league is volunteer run, we need a lot of help and support. If you would like to volunteer your time to coach, assist a team, score-keep, help out at our events, or sit on the Executive Board, please contact Dani Dunne at 473-4049.
Let's work together to provide our children with the opportunity to be active, have fun, and socialize in a healthy, clean, safe environment!TEAM NOTES:
Please understand that when we are dividing players among the teams, we give priority to keeping siblings on the same team. We must also consider placement of players who have parent volunteers/coaches. This year we have received an extraordinary number of requests to accommodate players who want to be on the same team as their friends. In some cases, this would require placement of up to seven players on one team and we can’t always accommodate this in a way that ensures fair distribution of players by age and ability.
We appreciate your understanding, and trust that you will help us explain this to the players.
