Kaikamahine Fastpitch Softball Club: History

HISTORY

The KAIKAMAHINE FASTPITCH SOFTBALL CLUB was founded in 2000 as a non profit organization when several members of the Kapolei Cobras and Hawaii Kai Cougars decided to begin play as a travel team.  KAIKAMAHINE was formed in order to provide players from Oahu, Hawaii with travel opportunities to mainland Invitational, National, College Recruiting/Exposure Tournaments. 

David Nohara is credited with coming up with the "Kaikamahine" name which means daugther in Hawaiian and our colors - black and green was chosen by John S. Lee.  Randy Langsi designed all of our logo's and team artwork 

KAIKAMAHINE fielded it's first team in the summer 2001 and the the end of the first travel season, the team played over 130 games, had won the Hawaii State ASA Championships - 12U "A" Division and traveled to three tournaments - one outer island - Kauai Invitational and two mainland tournaments - CA/Hawaii Invitational, Orange County, CA, ASA Nationals - "A" Division, 12U, Sterling, VA.

From 2003 to 2006, we fielded just one team, but won two (2) Hawaii State Championships - "A" Division - 14U/16U.  The team also traveled to three National Tournaments in Portland OR, Midland TX and Sioux Falls, SD.  Additionally, we travaled to college recruiting/exposure tournaments in Las Vegas, NV, Westmeister, CO and Aurora, CO.

In 2006, we decided to add a second team when the 16U joined the club.  And, in 2007, we decided to add a third team when the 14U joined the club.  In 2008 we added our 12U and 1OU teams bringing the club team total to five.
