KAIKAMAHINE GIRLS FASTPITCH SOFTBALL CLUB: ABOUT US
"The more things change, the more they stay the same. No really, it's still the same."
2012 marks the twelfth year of existence.
We are a travel sanctioned and certified fastpitch softball club based out of Oahu, Hawaii. We have five (5) highly competitive "A" division travel teams - 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U, and close to 70 members from Oahu, Maui, California and Philadelphia.
We are proud and loyal members of the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and Hawaii ASA - Oahu Junior Olympic (OJO) program along with the Hawaii Travel League of which we are one of the five (5) original founding member teams. Through the Hawaii Travel League, with tremendous support from Hawaii ASA, we annually host mainland travel softball teams along with top level college coaches and recruiters at our Kaikamahine Summer Invitational Tournament which was created and designed to help showcase softball players from Hawaii who may not be able to get to the mainland showcase tournaments.
Our club was established in 2000 as a non-profit travel softball organization with a single 12U team by loving and caring dads who wanted to provide players from Hawaii with an opportunity to play for a travel team who guaranteed and were committed to travel annually to any mainland invitational, national, and or college exposure tournament where those Hawaii players would be able to showcase their softball talents.
Our club rules and requirements for membership were patterned after very successful and high level travel softball teams from both here in Hawaii and on the mainland where they use open tryouts and mandatory commitment from players for one (1) year of training, practice, playing games, and traveling to tournaments.
Our club name, was taken from the Hawaiian language which means - daughters, nieces, and young girls. Our club colors of green, white and black were chosen to show support for our famous University of Hawaii Wahine and Warriors Athletic Teams. Our club logo was specifically designed using Polynesian artwork to show that we are unified with support and we have tremendous pride for our players, our culture and our state that we represent.
