Welcome to the 2013-2014 KAHOKS Hockey Page

THE KAHOKS WERE SADDENED LAST WEEK TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF ONE OF THEIR OWN ALUMNI, DREW BIRCH.   HE PLAYED FOR THE KAHOKS FROM 2004 UNTIL 2007.  OUR HEARTFELT CONDOLANCES GO OUT TO THE FAMILY.

CONGRATS TO THIS YEARS KAHOK ALL STARS -- CORY BEAN, JON BEDNARA, KYLE BRAY, JACOB SCRUM, JASON SPERRY, AND CORY SPERRY.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND SCHEDULE (KAHOKS VS EAWR)

GAME 1 - MONDAY MARCH 3RD AT EAST ALTON ICE RINK AT 845PM VS EAWR (WIN 3-0)

GAME 2 - TUESDAY MARCH 4TH AT EAST ALTON ICE RINK AT 715PM VS EAWR (LOST 3-2)

GAME 3 - THURSDAY MARCH 6TH AT EAST ALTON ICE RINK AT 845PM (WON 6-1)

THE KAHOKS DEFEATED EAST ALTON WOOD RIVER TONIGHT BY A SCORE OF 6-1 TO CLAIM THE 1A CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 1ST TIME IN IT'S HISTORY!!!!  EAWR CAME OUT FIRING AWAY IN THE FIRST 3 MINS OF THE GAME TO TAKE AN EARLY 6-2 MARGIN IN SHOTS BUT KAHOK NETMINDER KYLE BRAY STOOD TALL IN THE NET TO KEEP THEM OFF THE SCOREBOARD.  THEN JASON SPERRY SCORED ON A POWER PLAY TO PUT THE KAHOKS UP 1-0.  THE KAHOKS WHO HAD BEEN OUTSHOT BY A MARGIN OF 2-1 IN GAMES 1 AND 2 PLAYED A MUCH TIGHTER DEFENSIVE GAME TONIGHT AND PUT ON SOME BIG HITS.  NONE WAS BETTER THAN THE HIT KALIB CARLYLE PUT ON  HIS OPPONENT IN A PICTURE PERFECT CHECK AGAINST THE BOARDS THAT SENT HIM TUMBLING TO THE ICE TO PROVE THAT THE KAHOKS CAME TO PLAY TONIGHT.  SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE KAHOKS BRANDON HARRIS BEAT THE EAWR DEFENSE ON A PERFECT PASS FROM JACOB BEDNARA AND SCORED WHAT PROVED TO BE THE GAME WINNING GOAL JUST 3 MINS INTO THE 2ND PERIOD.  EAWR CAME RIGHT BACK A LITTLE OVER A MINUTE LATER TO SCORE A GOAL THAT LOOKED LIKE KYLE BRAY HAD COVERED UP AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHISTLED DEAD, BUT THE BOYS IN THE STRIPED SHIRTS DIDN'T SEEM TO SEE IT THAT WAY SO THE KAHOKS LEAD WAS CUT TO 2-1.  BUT WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT IN THE 2ND PERIOD, ON A PERFECT PASS FROM NICOLAS HAGER, KALIB CARLYE BLEW BY EAWR'S DEFENSE  AND BEAT THEIR GOALTENDER TO PUT THE KAHOKS UP 3-1 AFTER 2 PERIODS.  THE KAHOKS KODEE KEYES SCORED VERY EARLY IN THE 3RD PERIOD TO PUT THE KAHOKS UP 4-1 AND WITH THE FANS IN A FRENZY, YOU COULD FEEL THE ROUT WAS ON!!  KAHOK GOALIE KYLE BRAY TOTALLY FRUSTRATED EAWR'S SHOOTERS ALL NIGHT LONG STOPPING SHOT AFTER SHOT.  (KID, YOU PLAYED ONE H--E--DOUBLE HOCKEY STICK OF A SERIES!!!!)  THAT'S SOME OF THE BEST GOALTENDING I'VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME!!!!!  THE KAHOKS JASON SPERRY SCORED HIS 2ND GOAL OF THE NIGHT LATE IN THE GAME.  AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, KAHOK CAPTAIN JON BEDNARA JAMMED ONE IN WITH JUST 18 SECONDS LEFT IN THE GAME TO FINISH OUT THE SCORING FOR THE KAHOK SEASON.

AND WITH THAT, THE KAHOKS BROUGHT HOME THE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY FOR THE 1ST TIME EVER!!!!!

CONGRATS PLAYERS AND COACHES ON A JOB WELL DONE!!!!!

CONGRATS ALSO TO THIS YEARS SENIORS, JON BEDNARA, KYLE BRAY, AND CORY BEAN.  KUDOS TO YOU ALL!!!!

THE KAHOKS FINISH OFF THE SEASON WITH 14 WINS, 6 LOSSES, AND 4 TIES.

AND WITH THAT, THIS OLD MAN CLOSES OUT AN 11 YEAR TENURE OF BEING THE KAHOK WEBMASTER.  THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE FOND MEMORIES AND WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIPS THAT I'VE MADE OVER ALL THESE YEARS.  TO ALL OF YOU,  YOUNG AND OLD, I WISH THE SAME.   GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL AND AS ALWAYS, LET'S GO KAHOKS!!!!!!!!!
