Q: How much does it cost to become a member?

A: $50 for new members | $50 for renewing members. Membership runs late January to
November. Contact us directly for fee schedule when joining later in the Season (June or later)

Q: What do I get for $50?

  • Full access to our web site: roster, handouts, message board, etc
  • Discounts at local shops and some events
  • Training guides available for download
  • Socials and Clinics throughout the Season
  • Being a part of the most faboo network around with the best-looking gear

Q: I'm a beginner, can I join?
A: Sure! We have members at just about every level.

Q: I haven't exercised in years, can I still join?
A: You bet! It's never too late to begin a fitness routine. Check with your doctor and start very slowly. YOU are YOUR OWN best coach/guide, etc.
Remember, your participation in any training, workout, event is OF YOUR OWN VOLITION. Anything downloaded from our site is information we have collected from various sources. We do not endorse/enforce/require you to follow this information. The Just Us Girls: La Femme Sportive Network does not sponsor/endorse any specific workout, training or event. Girls may post on our Open (Member/Fan) Forum of their own free will and you may participate if you so choose.

Q: I don't know how to swim, can Just Us Girls teach me?
A:
No, sorry we cannot teach you to swim. We can help you understand the swim workouts and certainly give you tips on open water swimming. There are a few sources we know of in the Fresno/Clovis area for swim lessons. We are happy to share those with you.
OPEN WATER SWIMMING is a dangerous endeavor and you should be an accomplished swimmer before you go up to a Lake swim or participate in a triathlon with an open water swim leg. Do not expect/anticipate someone coming to your aid whilst swimming in an Open Water training. Do verbalize your skill-set before dipping your toes into an Open Water swim. Fins are always helpful, especially if you get tired.

Q: I don't have a road bike, can I ride my cruiser or my mountain bike?
A:
Sure ... but it may not be as much fun on the road-specific rides. Cruisers and mountain bikes are heavier and the knobby tires make it harder to roll as quickly as a road bike. You can certainly race triathlon on a mountain bike but you might want to look into "slicks" (smooth tires). The majority of our members have road bikes. Some of our members do race mountain bikes at MTB events, including special MTB triathlons. We hope to build our MTBiking and Cyclocross group this season!

Q: I'm not much of a runner, does this matter?
A: We all have a "problem" area. We have a few walkers and run/walkers. These ladies endeavor to run at some point. You will see most people running or run/walking a triathlon, duathlon and/or marathon/half marathon event.

Q: I don't have access to a computer, can I still join?
A: It will prove to be very difficult as we rely upon email and our Message Board to keep connected. We recommend members check their email and get on our website at least twice a week to keep current with Network happenings!

Q: Are there mandatory meetings? Monthly dues?
A: No and no. There is definitely nothing mandatory about Just Us Girls: La Femme Sportive ... well, except to have fun!

Q: Are there set workouts during the week and/or on the weekends?
A: Members are free to post workouts, trainings, other events on the web site. We are a NETWORK to enable you to connect with like-minded women. If you train with a fun running group: POST IT and invite other gals to join you. Do you have a great swim coach at your Masters workout? POST IT!
We will be doing the Nike Women's Half Marathon and the Two Cities Half Marathon with a training guide that can be downloaded as a Guide specifically for these two events, or follow your own training plan.
We ENCOURAGE you gals to take the initiative and form training groups and encourage each other to be accountable and GET OUT THERE!
It's like a gym membership: you get what you put into it. If you don't post on the Board and/or show up to a training/event ... well, you get the picture.

Q: How do I connect with the ladies in Just Us Girls?
A:
There is a Message Board where members can post just about anything. We also keep an active Roster where you will find telephone numbers and email addresses listed for members.


Q: Can I "try" out Just Us Girls before I join?
A: Sure! We allow a few weeks of limited access to our web site. You will be able to visit the Message Board and see what is happening with trainings and/or Socials. Socials are a great way to meet many members and chat with them about their experiences.

Q: So what's up with the guys training with you?

A: We love the gentlemen that often accompany us on our trainings! We ask all our "mens" to check the testosterone at the door. These guys are respectful of us and our workout. Many have been heard to say they work harder training with us ... and have more FUN!

Q: Can my kids train with me?
A:
For the safety of your children, our workouts are for members or prospective members who are 18 years or older. We created Just Us Girls to be an outlet for women who wanted to work out and connect with other women in a healthy, less stressful environment. After a workout with the Girls you may find yourself refreshed and re-energized when you rejoin your family and/or life commitments. There are situations where children, family and friends are invited to attend. These are clearly "advertised" through email and on the Message Board.

Q: How fast can I become a member?
A: How fast can you fill out a membership form and write a check? JOIN US NOW!



WORKOUT | TRAINING

Due to members' busy-busy schedules we organize our trainings/workouts via the Message Board!
Check the Board out for Mid-Week and Weekend workouts.
It's listed at the top left of the navigation column.

Don't be shy. If you sit around waiting for others to post, well then, you might be sitting
around and waiting! We are
like a Gym membership ... if you don't get into the gym, not
much is going to happen. It might take a post or two to get things going but post and
"they will come." We are a Resource for your training needs and we endeavor to point you in the
right direction,
if we can.

You will receive a weekly training guide (once you fill out your membership form and pay your fees!)
which is usually emailed out over the weekend. We list a low end and a high end for each training.
YOU are your own best coach and know your strengths and weaknesses. We do have a coach
who is available via email to answer your training/racing questions.

We have participated in many of these events and some are brand-spankin' new to us!
Discounts may apply, check with Director.
Many of the events are here in the Valley but you are free to participate in any event YOU choose.
With gas prices expecting to hit the $5/gal range, we wanted to be sensitive to costs.

Some events have not updated their 2011 date, check back frequently during the early part of the year.
