Hello everyone, welcome to our website. All of our Jr. Charger coaches are looking forward to the 2010 season and hope that you are too. Those of you that made the team will face some tough competition. Unfortunately not everyone will make the team. If your son did not make the team this year, don’t be discouraged. The reason that your son didn't make the team usually comes down to 2 things: Can he handle the ball as a guard or will he be able to play the post position. Sometimes you may feel that your son is better than a certain player but the coaches may feel that he can’t fill the position that they need filled. Generally the freshman team will carry between 12-15 players so even if you don’t make the Jr. Charger team please tryout for the freshman team when you move on to high school. There are different coaches picking the teams. So I encourage all of you to keep working on your game and sign up to tryout your freshman year.
If you didn’t make the team this year, you may play along with the team in the summer program, just contact the coach of your age group on this website and he will contact you as soon as he receives the information. We may try and do more open gyms this summer for all the age groups. We will talk to you more about this at the parent meeting and have you fill out a survey about this on Saturday.
For those players that made the Jr. Charger team, we will have our uniform fitting and mandatory parent meetings on Saturday, Dec. 19th at 3:15 to about 3:45 in the KML cafeteria. If you have a problem with this time please call your coach and work something out with him. The coach’s phone numbers are posted on the website. Please bring the $100 fee at this time. It's $75 for the second family member. We will size any new players along with the 5th & 7th grade players for their uniforms. The 6th & 8th graders will use last years warm-ups & uniforms. This will help in keeping our registration fees down. Sweat pants and duffel bags will be offered to all the age groups. The 8th grade should have their sweats from last year. The 7th grade teams will get their sweat pants free every year and the 5th & 6th grade teams will have to wear black sweats or buy the Jr. Charger sweat pants that we will have available. Buying the Junior Charger sweat pants is not mandatory!
The tournament schedules are posted on the website. There may be a few additions and corrections but this will give you some kind of an idea as to what tournaments we will be attending this year.
In order to check and see if you made the team just click on to your age group and the names will be displayed there by no later than December 15th.
I’d like to thank all the parents for getting your kids to the tryouts on time and good luck with your school seasons and I'll see you on Saturday.
The 7th and 8th grade teams will practice after the parent meetings from 3:45-5:45 at KML. I know it's late notice but see if you can attend. It will not be held against you if you committed to something else already.
In Christ
