WELCOME TO THE JR. INDIANS BASEBALL CLUB

Visit the News & Information page for recent postings on Club activities.

About the Jr. Indians Baseball Club
The Jr. Indians Baseball Club is a non-profit volunteer organization formed exclusively to provide Mukwonago Area School Disctrict youth athletes an opportunity to develop their baseball skills and techniques, and improve their knowledge, understanding and general capabilities of the game through Club sponsored competitive team program and other instructional programs. The Club is dedicated to improve the quality of baseball played in the Mukwonago area and supports, and is supported by, the Mukwonago High School baseball program. An emphasis is placed on respect, teamwork, hard work, and sound baseball fundamentals & techniques.

Jr. Indians Baseball Teams.
The Club has teams comprised of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade youths (based on school grade prior to the summer baseball season).  Rosters are determined at the end of a 2-day tryout process, with each group (i.e., grade) trying out separately each day.  Tryouts are held on the 3rd Sat./Sun. in August with team winter workouts beginning in January.  The winter workouts are optional for players as the Club encourages youths to be multi-sport athletes.  Regular team practices begin in late March or early April as weather permits.  Jr. Indians teams play up to 20 regular season games plus tournaments through about the 1st week of August.  The National Federation of State High School (NFHS) Baseball Rules govern league and tournament games, with some modifications.  All Jr. Indians Baseball Team rosters are disbanded after the season and a tryout is held to determine roster players for the following year's teams.

The Jr. Indians Baseball Club and the Town of Vernon and Town of Mukwonago's Recreation Departments encourage all youths to participate in baseball.  If a player is not placed on a Jr. Indians team roster, the Club strongly encourages the player to participate in the Community Youth Recreational League or other baseball program and continue to play baseball.

The Club encourages Jr. Indians roster players to be to be multi-sport athletes although dedicated to their team during the baseball season.  Jr. Indians baseball players can expect to improve their skill, knowledge and understanding of baseball through a more challenging and competitive baseball environment.

Jr. Indians players must reside in the Mukwonago Area School District (MASD) or attend a MASD school in order to be eligible for the Team program.

Jr. Indians Winter Workouts
Winter Workouts are for players that were selected to a Jr. Indians Baseball Club team during the tryout.  Players do not need to register for the Winter Workouts, which generally begin in January and run through March.  The workouts are offered on various evenings depending on indoor gym availability.   Unless the Winter Workout session is established by the Club to finalize a team roster(s), all Winter Workout sessions are optional.

Winter Workouts are comprised of both Club Workouts and Team Workouts.  Club Workouts are conducted by the Jr. Indians Baseball Club's instructors and coaches through a format consistent with a baseball camp (demonstration and repetitive drill stations).  The Club Workouts focus on developing consistent and sound baseball fundamental skills, techniques, terminology and offensive and defensive strategies for all Club coaches, players and teams.  Team Workouts are conducted by a team's head and coaching staff.  Each team's head coach will establish his own schedule and format for each workout (indoor team practice).

Jr. Indians Baseball Camps (1st through 4th graders)
Baseball Camps are offered to youths in 1st through 4th grade.  Campers are grouped by grade (age) at each camp, generally with 1st & 2nd graders in one session and 3rd & 4th graders in a separate session.  The objective of each camp is to make the baseball experience fun for young players by developing a strong foundation of fundamental skills, techniques and general understanding of the game.  The camps are held in May to help young players prepare for their upcoming baseball season and so they can apply what is taught at the camps during their practices and games with area recreation and club teams.  The Club's instructors, Jr. Indians Baseball teams coaches and Jr. Indians Baseball players provide hands-on coaching at the camps.  Parents are encouraged to observe at the camps in order to reinforce the fundamentals at home or as a coach in a recreation or other club baseball program.

Youths participating in the camps do not need to reside in the MASD or attend a MASD school.
