QUOTES FOR 2010:

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
His name was Kyle
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
I thought to myself, 'Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?
He must really be a nerd.'I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon),
so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him...
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
As I handed him his glasses, I said, 'Those guys are jerks.'
They really should get lives.
He looked at me and said, 'Hey thanks!'
There was a big smile on his face.
It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before..
He said he had gone to private school before now.
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.I asked him if he wanted to play a little Football with my friends
He said yes.
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.
I stopped him and said, 'Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
He just laughed and handed me half the books...
Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends..
When we were seniors we began to think about college.
Kyle decided on Georgetown and I was going to Duke.
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem..
He was going to be a doctor and I was going for business on a football scholarship..
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
I teased him all the time about being a nerd..
He had to prepare a speech for graduation.
I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.
He looked great.
He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.
He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.
Boy, sometimes I was jealous!
Today was one of those days
I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
So, I smacked him on the back and said, 'Hey, big guy, you'll be great!'
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.
' Thanks,' he said.
As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
'Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, your coaches...but mostly your friends.....
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
I am going to tell you a story.'
I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told of the first day we met
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
'Thankfully, I was saved.
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable..'
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.
Never underestimate the power of your actions..
With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
For better or for worse....
God puts us all in each others lives to impact one another in some way.
Look for God in others.

QUOTES FOR 2008:

LUCK = PREPARATION + OPPORTUNITY

The Two Wolves

One evening, an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves in us all."

"One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

"The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM, HE SURE HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THIS!  BILL GATES RECENTLY GAVE A SPEECH AT A HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT 11 THINGS THEY DID NOT AND WILL NOT LEARN IN SCHOOL.  HE TALKS ABOUT HOW THE FEEL-GOOD POLITICALLY CORRECT TEACHINGS CREATED A GENERATION OF KIDS WITH NO CONCEPT OF REALITY AND HOW THIS CONCEPT SET THEM UP FOR FAILURE IN THE REAL WORLD.

RULE 1:  LIFE IS NOT FAIR - GET USED TO IT!

RULE 2:  THE WORLD WON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SELF-ESTEEM.   THE WORLD WILL EXPECT YOU TO ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING BEFORE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF.

RULE 3:  YOU WILL NOT MAKE $60,000 A YEAR RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL.  YOU WON'T BE A VICE-PRESIDENT WITH A CAR PHONE UNTIL YOU EARN BOTH.

RULE 4:  IF YOU THINK YOUR TEACHER/COACHES ARE TOUGH, WAIT TILL YOU GET A BOSS.

RULE 5:  FLIPPING BURGERS IS NOT BENEATH YOUR DIGNITY.  YOUR GRANDPARENTS HAD A DIFFERENT WORD FOR BURGER FLIPPING:  THEY CALLED IT OPPORTUNITY.

RULE 6:  IF YOU MESS UP, IT'S NOT YOUR PARENTS FAULT, SO DON'T WHINE ABOUT YOUR MISTAKES, LEARN FROM THEM.

RULE 7:  BEFORE YOU WERE BORN, YOUR PARENTS WEREN'T AS BORING AS THEY ARE NOW.  THEY GOT THAT WAY FROM PAYING YOUR BILLS, CLEANING YOUR CLOTHES, AND LISTENING TO YOU TALK ABOUT HOW COOL YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE.  SO BEFORE YOU SAVE THE RAIN FOREST FROM THE PARASITES OF YOUR PARENTS' GENERATION, TRY DELOUSING THE CLOSET IN YOUR OWN ROOM.

RULE 8:  YOUR SCHOOL MAY HAVE DONE AWAY WITH WINNERS & LOSERS, BUT LIFE HAS NOT.  IN SOME SCHOOLS, THEY HAVE ABOLISHED FAILING GRADES AND THEY'LL GIVE YOU AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT TO GET THE RIGHT ANSWER.  THIS DOESN'T BEAR THE SLIGHTEST RESEMBLANCE TO ANYTHING IN REAL LIFE.

RULE 9:  LIFE IS NOT DIVIDED INTO SEMESTERS.  YOU DON'T GET THE SUMMERS OFF AND VERY FEW EMPLOYERS ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING YOU FIND YOURSELF.  DO THAT ON YOUR OWN TIME........

RULE 10:  TELEVISION IS NOT REAL LIFE.  IN REAL LIFE PEOPLE ACTUALLY HAVE LEAVE THE COFFEE SHOP AND GO TO JOBS.

RULE 11:  BE NICE TO NERDS.  CHANCES ARE YOU'LL END UP WORKING FOR ONE.

IF YOU CAN READ THIS - THANK A TEACHER!
MOST OF ALL, THANK A VETERAN FOR KEEPING OUR COUNTRY FREE SO THIS CAN BE PASSED ON TO SOMEONE ELSE.

" CHAMPIONS ARE NOT BORN, THEY ARE MADE"

Perspective:

Keep a Proper View of Life

To be a true champion, it is important that you grasp the roles and

responsibilities of being a CHAMPION. Especially hold onto the respect of

friends, family and others you meet on the road to success. You make

yourself a champion, and you must accept the responsibility for how you

will handle the inevitable setbacks along the way.

Winners put themselves in a proper perspective. They blame themselves for

their failures and take credit for their accomplishments. Losers blame

everyone else and never get better. The day you stop making excuses is the

day you begin your journey to the top.

There are two opposing forces that constantly exert themselves on you. One

is the pleasure you gain from SOCCER . The other is the pain never

ending reality: the sacrifices and the soreness you endure becoming a

winner. You must learn to balance one force against the other and place

them in proper perspective. If you have the desire, determination and

courage necessary to become a winner, you won’t let anything come

between you and your goals.

Don’t let the pleasures and benefits go to your head. A monstrous ego may

cause people to lose respect for you, or you may lose self-respect. On the

other hand, don’t let the pains and soreness of you staying in shape harm

your desire: it’s all part of the game. Nothing worthwhile comes easily!

The great Vince Lombardi said "winning isn’t everything, it’s the only

thing! This quote ignores one fact--everybody suffers losses and set backs

along the road to victory. You must accept your losses and setbacks and

turn your failures into learning experiences. Learn from your mistakes and

try harder next time. As long as you’ve worked hard and done everything to

prepare yourself, you have nothing to be ashamed of should you suffer a

loss. There is always another challenge ahead.

"Parents today want to take all the pain, all the heartache, and sadness out of their kids lives.  ALL THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON"
Rick Majerus, College Basketball Coach

QUOTES OF THE 2007 SEASON:

"The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare to win"

"Winning isn't everything, the the effort to win is."

"Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."
(John Wooden)

"The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender" (Vince Lombardi)

"You're only as strong as your weakest link"

"Pain and sacrifice are temporary, pride is forever"

"EARLY IS ON TIME, ON TIME IS LATE, & LATE IS UNACCEPTABLE!"

"It doesn't take talent to hustle & be on time"

"DISCIPLINE YOURSELF SO OTHERS DO NOT HAVE TO"

"MENTAL FITNESS is as important as PHYSICAL FITNESS"

"The difference between WINNING & LOSING is OUTWORKING the other team"

"It's not how pretty you play the game, its whether you win or lose, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, because the one who tells you otherwise is a loser!"

John LoPipero

The 2010 season will be dedicated to the life of our dear friend and coach, JOHN LOPIPERO.  John never missed a game or practice & was always there for the kids and the coaches.  He brought a calming presence to the field and you always felt better when he was around.  The kids looked up to him with great pride and respect.  Most of all, he certainly had the best 1 liners that would put everyone in stitches.  John, we know that you are watching down upon us, and we will do our best to make you proud!!!
