NEW!: 

2010 Cougar Track and Field season comes to end at Sac Joaquin Masters Track and Field Finals.

The 2010 JFK Track and Field season come to an official end Friday night 5/28th at the Masters Track and Field Finals held at Hughes Stadium. At the start of the day three Cougars,  Krystal Rodrick (high jump), Chriss Grimble (1600) and Breonntae Snelling (200) still had a chance to finish 3rd or better in their events and qualify for a slot at the California State Championships in Clovis.  In our final event Breonntae Snelling finished a close 4th just .13 of a second away from 3rd and a trip to the State Meet!

 

 

Five athletes qualified to compete at the Masters Track and Field Meet Thursday and Friday at Hughes Stadium!

Five JFK Track and Field Athletes qualified  to continue their seasons Thursday and Friday at the Masters Meet and a chance to compete for a slot in the CIF State Championship Meet June 4th and 5th in Clovis.   In Boy's Varsity:Breonntae Snelling qualified in the 100 and 200, Nehemiah Jackson in the 200 and Chriss Grimble in the 800 and 1600.  In Girl's Varsity:  Charity Hill qualified in the 100, Laniesha Everson in the 400, Krystal Rodrick is the alternate in the High Jump.   Congratulations to our qualifiers along all of our other athletes that competed so well in the Divison 1 Meet!

Our athletes won 7 individual league championships and we qualified to compete in 15 events in this week’s Division 1 championships at Hughes Stadium. They really did themselves and the school proud!  Athletes placing 6th or better scored team points. In the Varsity Divisions athletes placing 5th or better qualified to compete in the Division 1 Meet , 6th will be the League alternate. Athletes winning their events are League Champions in all divisions!    The entire team has competed with a lot of pride, poise and focus this season, they have been a fun group to work with!   Our coaches are proud of them!

Krystal Rodrick broke the  JFK School High Jump Record Saturday May 8th at the Sac Town Races!   Krystal jumped 5'2" to break the old JFK record of 5'0" set by Monique Smartt-Kidd in 2001!  Krystal's jump also came within an inch of the Sac Town Races Meet record, and was 6" higher than her previous best jump!   Great job Krystal!

JOHN F. KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL COUGAR TRACK & FIELD TEAM INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS;

WELCOME NEW AND RETURNING TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES! We offer 15 events, we have just the right one for you!  Running Events are: the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, the 4 x 100 and 4x400 relays, the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs and the 100/110 and 300 meter hurdles. Field Events are: The Throws, Shot Put and Discus. The Jumps: Long, Triple and the High.  No experience is necessary! Our coaches will help you find the right event (s) and help you to be successful at it!

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS OF JFK TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES: Like all athletes at Kennedy Track and Field athletes must maintain a 2.0 (C) grade point average. To join the team an athlete must have earned a 2.0 (C) grade point average or better on their semester grade report. To remain on the team athletes are required to maintain an acceptable grade point average on the quarter grades and to fully cooperate with the coaches to provide grade checks attend tutoring etc. when asked to do so. Athletes must always remember that they are students first and athletes second.To participate athletes are required to have had a physical during the 2009-2010 school year on file. Athletes that have had a physical during the school for a fall or winter sport do not need another one. If you need to have a physical see one of the coaches for a list of clinics.

Athletes are expected to attend and fully participate in all team practices. Athletes are expected to fully cooperate with the coaches, be supportive of their team mates and display sportsmanship at meets. All JFK school and athletic department behavior guidelines apply to all team activities.

Official season practice will begin Wednesday February 10th and continues each school day until the end of the season in late May.

Practice is held at 3:45 p.m. in the JFK Stadium. in case of rain meet in front of the cafeteria. We practice each school day rain or shine!

Athletes are expected to report to practice on time and be dressed to fully participate.

We are proud of our past success and excited about our future! We are happy that you have chosen to make JFK Cougar Track & Field part of your high school experience!
