Welcome to the Spanky McFarland Baseball Schools at JMU

There are thousands of camp opportunities across the country. So how do you decide which camp to attend? How do you wade through the advertising and the hype? How do you determine the value of any given baseball camp?
How are the baseball camps at JMU better or different than other well know camp opportunities?

Reputation. JMU Baseball is synonymous with player development.

  • Expert staff that actually teach the game and are at every session. You will develop a personal relationship with the JMU Coaching Staff.

  • Limited number of campers. Unlike many of the bigger name camps, the JMU camps have set numbers, an 8 to 1 coach to player ratio and facilities to insure that you will get an optimum number of repetitions with no waiting in line or standing around.

  • JMU Baseball Camps are well below the national average in price and according to many previous camps "I learned more and paid less."

  • 1983 College World Series

  • 38 years of baseball, 37 years of at least one major league draft pick

  • 11 Major Leaguers

  • 79 players with the opportunity to play professional baseball

  • 10 Regular season championships

  • 7 NCAA Regionals

  • 1 CAA Pitcher of the Year

  • 1 National Player of the Year

  • 2 Major Leaguers (to date)

  • 10 current JMU players who were first seen at a JMU Baseball Camp

  • The "little things"

~ "Every coach knew my name."

~ "I learned more, paid less money, had fun and improved greatly."

~ "I've been to a lot of camps at bigger schools and spent a larger amount of time standing around. The JMU camp was smaller and they worked us hard, but I loved every minute."

~ "At a lot of camps you don't even see the head coach or top assistants. At JMU, Coach Mac and all of his assistants were at every session."

~ "The coaches at JMU know their stuff and work you hard, yet still liked to mess around and have fun. I highly recommend this camp. I got better and had fun. That's why I went."

~ "The food at the dining hall was unbelievable."
