Jersey Girls 14U Blue Wrap Up Season

The 14U Blue wrapped its successful 2007 season with a trip to the PONY Nationals in Cary, North Carolina. While the bats started out slow, the defense and pitching held opposing teams to only three runs in the seeding games. The Girls played themselves through some tough teams and made a solid late run putting together solid offense and defense. Ultimately, the team exited Nationals with a great experience and the knowledge of what needs to be done to improve this winter to make a strong run in 2008. Congratulations ladies on a solid season of play!

Jersey Girls Win Championship in Independence Weekend in Carlisle, PA!
After going 2-1 on Friday and battling through a rough seeding bracket on Saturday only managing to go 0-2-1, the Girls bounced back dominating the Silver bracket on Sunday and taking the championship in St. Thomas, PA. After convincing wins against the BC Breakers and Virginia Lady Patriots, the Girls faced off against the Southern Maryland Fierce in the final, taking home top honors in a well played game by both teams! Congrats ladies, way to go! Our sincere thanks to the Fierce for providing our photo for this caption. 14U Blue Capture the Qualifier Crown in Rampage Tournament    Going undefeated, the Jersey Girls 14U supported strong pitching with solid defense and key offensive mite to take the top prize in the 14U Rampage Tournament in Rockaway, NJ. After going 3-0 on Saturday scattering only three runs scored against teams including the CT Hornets, Jersey Storm Blue and Newburgh Lady Vikes, the Girls edged past Challenge Fastpitch in their first bracket play. In what could have amounted in a second championship match, the Girls held the NJ Rocks to a 0-0 tie until ITB was initiated. After two scoreless attempts, the Rocks struck first going up 1-0 but the Girls battled after a triple scored the runner from second with the winning run coming cross in a texas leaguer to left field. After this nine inning battle, the Girls came out hot against the NJ Sparks going up 3-0 quickly and never looked back. Congrats to the 14U players and coaches in a tournament win that was a true team effort up and down the lineup! This is the third qualifying berth for the 14U Blue this season on their way to Cary, NC for PONY Nationals. Participating players included: Jenna Goldsack, Nena Lizza, Casey Cresbaugh, Haley Smith, Courtney Noone, Danielle Martucci, Sam Greiner, Carly Piccinich, Alex Hill, Paige Goldsack, Cait Kennedy and Erika Pakutka.

Sole Survivor Honors Elude 14U Teams in Host Tournament in Frankford Township
Amongst the rolling hills and granite cliffs of Sussex Township, the Jersey Girls 14U Red and Blue squad hosted a regional roster of teams ranging from NY, CT and all parts of NJ. Braving a torrential downpour and dangerous lightning that forced a one hour delay and again later in the afternoon forcing abbreviated third game play, the 14U Blue went 3-0 against the East Coast Tsunami, NY Panthers and Stamford Stars. With a latter forfeiting their game status on Sunday, the 14U Blue had on unenviable duty to face their sister 14U Red squad in what amounted in a well played game by both squads with the Blue prevailing 4-3. While ten-running the Panthers the day earlier, this game would prove the turnabout in team fate as the Panthers avenged their loss from the day before ousting the Blue squad in the semi finals just a game short of the championship game. Congrats to the Jersey Storm Blue in their Summer Survivor victory over the NY Panthers in concluding a successful tournament event for all! Thanks to all the teams that participated and to all our players, coaches and parents on both 14U squads for making the weekend a huge success! We hope to see you again next year.
