When does registration for the spring season begin?
Registration opens the first week of January each year and runs through February 7th.
If I miss the registration deadline, can my child still play?
Players may not be registered online after the deadline, but it is still possible to register and be placed on a team. An email to the league must be sent requesting a registration form and pending placement on a team. If there are teams with room available, the league will either place players on those teams until they are full or the coach must grant permission to allow the player on their team. Players are not guaranteed placement on a team after the deadline has passed.
What is the length of the spring season?
The season usually begins in late March and ends in late May to early June. T-ball and coach pitch leagues will typically end in late May whereas the kid pitch leagues will often go into the first or second week of June due to making up games that have been rained out.
When are games played during the week?
Games are played Monday-Saturday. T-ball and coach pitch begin games at 6:00 M-F and generally last no more than 1 hour and 15 minutes. Kid pitch games play at 6:00 and 7:45 M-F with a duration of approximately 1 ½ hours. Saturday games begin at 10:00am and are played at intervals throughout the day. Sunday games will only be scheduled due to excessive rainouts.
What is the cost to play?
Currently, our fees are as follows:
T-ball 4-5 and T-ball 6 = $90.00
Coach Pitch 7U and 8U = $110
All Kid Pitch 9-14 = $150
Do I have to purchase my own uniform?
T-Ball 4-5 fees include a team uniform shirt and hat. Any additional pieces such as pants or socks may be purchased separately at the time of sizing or otherwise depending on if the team decides to buy them.
For all other leagues, uniforms will need to be purchased prior to the start of the season. This is up to each individual coach/team as to what the uniform will include and where it will be purchased. Full uniforms for instructional teams should cost around $40-$70.
Is JYB an age-based league or grade-based league?
Teams are formed by age, not grade. The age cut-off date is April 30.
How do I determine what age group my child falls into?
The age of the child on or before April 30 of the current spring season is the age group he/she would play in for this season. For example, a player turns 9 on April 29, then he must play in either the 9U competitive league or the 9/10 instructional league. He cannot play in the 8U because he is still 8 when he is registered.
What is the league’s policy on playing up or down a league?
A child may play one age group above his/her current age. Players may not play up 2 years without JYB Board approval.
Players may NOT play in any age group below their own unless the parent can provide proof of disability or handicap AND the Board approves the player to play down.
How many players can play on a team?
For all t-ball, coach pitch, and instructional teams, approximately 11-13 players is the league recommendation. The league will not place more than 13 players on a team without permission of the coach. A minimum of 10 is required for all teams.
What if I don’t have a team?
Players in t-ball and coach pitch will be assigned a team to play with. Players in kid pitch without a team should sign up in the instructional league and will be assigned a team. If a player wishes to be on a competitive team, he/she may sign up in the competitive league without a team and attend the tryouts.
When and where are the competitive tryouts held?
Tryouts will be held on February 7th. They are held at the indoor baseball facility at Jenks High School.
What if I don’t get picked up by a competitive team at the tryout?
Players not selected to a competitive team at the tryout will be placed on an instructional team.
Can my child play on a team with his friends?
You may request to be placed on a team with specific children in the special requests box on the registration form, or you may form a team of your own and build a team with players of your choice. The league can then fill the team if you do not have a full team (this does not apply to competitive teams).
I would like to coach my own team. What if I don’t have enough players?
The league will fill your team for you if you are in the t-ball, coach pitch, or instructional kid pitch leagues. If you would like to coach a competitive team, you must fill your own team to a minimum of 10 players. All competitive coaches are asked to attend the competitive tryout and select players if needed, but generally teams are not able to pick up more than a couple players each.
Can a coach add a player after the cut-off date?
Competitive teams may add players to their team even throughout the season, but any player must be registered and paid in full before participating in any game or practice at JYB.
Instructional teams may only add players if the team has an open spot and agrees to an additional player.
What is your refund policy?
No refunds will be given after the start of the season on March 22, 2010. Prior to that, a partial refund can be granted with Board approval.
