Wednesday, January 18
The Blue Crush 3v3 team traveled to Orlando Florida this weekend to compete in the Kick It 3v3 World Championship Tournament. The team consisting of Ashlynn Betts, Nikki Castic, Stephanie Doherty, Natalie Paige, and Brittney Totty, faced opponents from across the United States and Canada. The first game was a great show of teamwork, and the girls walked away with an 8-1 win over the Flamin' Grizzly Cubarrows from Ohio. From there the girls faced the Eliminators from Iowa. They were a great opponent, but the Blue Crush won the game 4-2. The third game was against the Jedi Knight Hawks from Ontario Canada. Once again the BC pulled together to take home a 10-1 win.
The undefeated record gave the girls a first seed advancement and a bye in the first round of the playoffs. The semi-final game was probably the best opponent the team faced. Both teams were tied up 1-1 until eight seconds left in the game, at which point the BC finally scored.
The Blue Crush took on the Flames from Roswell New Mexico in the championship game. It was the second time the teams would play each other. The first time being in the San Antonio regionals. The BC played well, but the game was not without controversy. After three "un-seen" goals by the referee, one of which both coaches agreed should have been called, the two teams went into a 0-0 overtime. The BC was unable to put in a goal in the OT period, which sent the game into a shootout. As luck would have it, the Flames were able to pull off the win to leave the BC with second place.
After a review by the tournament director, it was determined that the BC did in fact score at least one goal in regulation play that should have given them the win. He didn't believe it was fair to take the win away from the Flames, but did agree that a mistake had been made. Even though it did not change the outcome of the game or the final standings, he felt the only fair thing to do was to award the Blue Crush a Championship trophy. Coach Totty commented, "Everyone watching the game, knows that we won. The tournament director did what he thought was fair. Weather it should have come down to it or not, the Flames made more shots in the shootout than we did. The girls should be proud of their accomplishment. Second place in the World is nothing to hang your head about."

It was a well played tournament, and a wonderful experience for the girls. They met a lot of great teams and had a lot of fun. Hopefully they will earn another advancement next year, where they plan to prove to everyone what we all know. They are champions!!

Blue Crush move up in the rankings
The Blue Crush moved up in the final national rankings to number three going into the national tournament. The BC will be playing in Orlando FL January 14-17 in hopes of winning a national title.

The Blue Crush moved to number four in the latest Kick It 3v3 National Rankings. This is a special honor and all the girls on the team should be proud of themselves. Congratulations ladies and keep working hard.

Blue Crush Qualify for the World Championships in Orlando Flordia
The Blue Crush traveled to San Antonio Texas over the weekend with one goal, advancing to the World Championships in Orlando Florida. The BC achieved that goal but it came at a big cost when Ashlynn Betts fractured her left leg in the semi final game. The injury will cost Ashlynn at least 3-4 months off while she goes through rehab for the fracture. We look forward to having her back for World tournament in Orlando in January 2006.
Even with Ashlynns injury the team continued play hard but fell short in the championship game. The BC lost to a team from East Texas by the score of 3-2. During the game the BC had 3 goals disallowed and questionable call that allowed another goal for the East Texas team. Even though it was a tough loss all in all it was a good tournament with the BC finishing second in the Texas area regionals.

In the championship game, the team defeated the Lincoln Thunderbirds 4-1.

The Blue Crush finished 4-1-1 to take home the bronze medal this weekend at the Kick It 3v3 Soccer Shootout in Tulsa. The team, is made up of Ashlynn Betts, Nelimarie Batista, Nikki Castic, Natalie Paige, and Brittney Totty. The girls won three out of four pool games and tied the fourth. The tie against the Hurricanes dropped them to second seed and they took on the Kansas Stingers. This game proved to get the best of the Blue Crush. The loss here was the only one of the weekend, but dropped the girls down to play for the bronze. Even with Brittney injured and unable to play in the last game, the rest of the team pulled it out and took home the win.
Overall it was a great tournament. The girls had a great time, and met a lot of great teams.
The team will reform and advance on to regionals in San Antonio.

Blue Crush 3V3 Team Advances to Regionals in Dallas
Lincoln Nebraska Champs
We Like Tator Tots!!!!!
With a 6 and 1 record this weekend in Lincoln Nebraska the Blue Crush advance to the regional tournament in Dallas Texas. The BC met the Explosion from Iowa in the championship game and came out on top with a 7-4 decision. The Explosion which finished third in last years national tournament in Orlando Florida gave the BC all the wanted and pushed them to the limit. With the game tied 2-2 the explosion was called for hand ball that denied the BC a goal. This gave the BC a penalty kick and with a well placed kick took the lead for good. It was a tough break for the Explosion but the BC took advantage of the opportunity and won the championship.
