League Information:
JEHBLL is chartered under Little League Baseball, www.littleleague.org. JEHBLL has been in existence for over 50 years serving the Jamaica Estates, Holliswood, Briarwood areas of Queens, NY.
JEHBLL has 8 Divisions from 5-year olds through 17-year olds. Our league serves all children ages 5-17 years of age and baseball ability. The fields are at Cunningham Park located on 73rd Avenue and Francis Lewis Blvd.
Included in the registration fee, each player receives a baseball jersey, pant and cap. Because of sanitary issues, each player is responsible for a batting helmet and athletic cup ( boys only) which can be purchased at Modell's or any other sporting goods store. We supply all other equipment and umpires to play the game. If you purchase baseball cleats for your child, the shoes must have plastic cleats. Metal cleats are not permitted until the 15-17 year age group. If you decide to purchase your own baseball metal bat, the requirement is 2 1/4 inch barrel, BPF 1.15 for 5-12 year olds and 2 5/8 inch, -3 oz, BESR approved for 13-17 year olds. Wood bats are allowed but players using metal bats will have an advantage.
Practices are arranged and scheduled between the manager, coaches and player's parent. Initially, most teams try to have 1-2 practice a week starting around 5 PM, starting in late March to April. Once the team knows each other and we roll into May, practices become rarer because we start to play 1 game on a weekday for the 9-17 year olds. Typically, 5-8 year olds play only on weekends, unless rain games have to be made up.
All teams play a game on both Saturday and Sunday from April-June. Starting in May, Minor (9-10), Major (11-12), Junior (13-14) and Senior (15-17) Divisions play an additional game on a weekday. Typically, game is on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
