February is here and we should be ready for the start of the season. Expect this year to be as good if not better than last. We still have a lot of talent from last year and we have a good crop of Sophomores coming to reload the program. There are some things we can do to help make ourself successful this season.
1. Get our grades in order. In a couple of weeks the weather is going to change and be great. We will want to do everything except stay inside and study. We need to work now so we can play later.
2. Get our rest. Practice, school, homework and chores at home are all going to take their toll on us physically. Give the body and mind a break by turning those lights out as early as possible each night during the season.
3. Eat right. A strong healthy body needs nutrients. The season is long and hard and we should eat healthy food and only what we need to stay strong, healthy and energetic.
4. Think SOFTBALL. Knowing what to do is as important as our softball skills. An athlete that knows what to do is a confident athlete. A confident athlete is hard to beat. Review what we cover in practice until it sinks in.
