ALL FOR ONE
The season will soon be here.
January is here and we are ready for the start of the season. We still have a lot of talent from last year but we need a good crop of Freshman and Sophomores to reload the program.  There are some things we can do to help make ourself successful this season.

1. Get our grades in order. In a couple of weeks the weather is going to change and be great. We will want to do everything except stay inside and study. We need to work now so we can play later.

2. Get our rest. Practice, school, homework and chores at home are all going to take their toll on us physically. Give the body and mind a break by turning those lights out as early as possible each night during the season.

3. Eat right. A strong healthy body needs nutrients. The season is long and hard and we should eat healthy food and only what we need to stay strong, healthy and energetic.

4. Think SOFTBALL. Knowing what to do is as important as our softball skills. An athlete that knows what to do is a confident athlete.  A confident athlete is hard to beat. Review what we cover in practice until it sinks in.

2011 Lady Dawgs Softball Team Rules

The athletes need to be at least 15 minutes early to practice.

The athletes need to look like a team.

  • wear the proper team practice shirt and short
  • shirts will be tucked in to shorts or pants
  • wear the proper under garment gear
  • may not wear any jewelry
  • responsible for your issued practice clothing and game uniform (to be turned in at end of season)

The athlete will need to keep her locker clean.

The athlete will be responsible for practice equipment that will be brought out to the practice filed.

The athlete will run when on the softball field.

  • always run between the lines
  • hustle during and inbetween drills
  • do not be the last one in drills

The athlete will not have any food items in their mouth during practice: gum, sunflower seeds, or any other items. This is a health hazard.

The athlete will be an exemplary student in her classes.

  • must have a 70 or better in her classes
  • will turn in a grade check at the end of the 3 week grading period
  • no mandatory tutorials for students with an 80 or above
  • 70 to 79 - 2 days per week
  • below 70 - 4 days per week
  • failing 2 six weeks in a row can lead to dismissal from the team

The athlete will eat a well-rounded diet and stay well hydrated.

  • eliminate fried food and ice cream

The athlete will control her attitude and effort (will learn to handle failures and work harder to correct mistakes)

The athlete will support and encourage teammates at practices and games. Enthusiasm and love for this game is catchy.

The athlete will notify the coach if for any reason they will miss a practice or game prior to the event.

The athlete will ride the bus to and from the games unless otherwise stated by the coaches. Then a parent must sign the out.

You are a Bowie Bulldog Athlete and will represent your school with appropriate language and behavior that your parents would be proud of.
