Dallas, Tx.  The three Jammers' teams at the 2008 USAV Junior Olympics all finished in the gold division.

Jammers 17s finished the 17s National Division of the 2008 USAV Junior Olympics in 2nd place.  The team was coached by Tanya Fuamatu-Anderson.   Setter Pihana Kea, Outside Hitter Haililani Pokipala and libero Kelly Chang were selected for the All-tournament team.
Jammers 13s Black, won second place  at the 2008 USAV Junior Olympics.  The 13s Black were the reigning 13s team in the Aloha Region and the Pacific Northwest.   The team was the 2007 national 12s' champion.  After wining 8 straight games, Jammer's 13's played in the Quarter Finals against Vision Gold from California and won.. Still undefeated, we challenged the tough undefeated Wave 13's from Encinitas, CA in the semi finals and won 26-24 and 25-21and went on to compete in the Gold bracket championships still undefeated.  On June 30, 2008, against the St Louis CYC 13's from MO they played for the championship game, (the gold medal) Jammers lost first game 19-25 they came back in the second match to win at 25-15, but lost the third match 8-15..  Needless to say... This tough Honolulu team placed SECOND IN THE NATION.  Out of 11 games the championship game was their only loss.  (Note:  there is no all-tournament team for younger age groups.

Coach Toshi with Jammers

Jammers had a series of intensive clinics from May 20-26.  The players began the week with Chris Gonzalez, formerly assistant coach at Arizona and Long Beach State, who has also coached for the U.S. Men's Olympic team and in the Swiss League.  Notably, Chris coached the professional team which had Robyn Ah Mow and Logan Tom.  Chris also has coached junior club teams which won gold, silver and bronze teams at Junior Olympics.   This is the third time Chris has honored Jammers with a clinic.
Jammers ended the week with an all day clinic with Toshi Yoshida, formerly the U.S. Women's national team coach, who coached the US Women's Olympic team in the 2004 Olympics.  (Coincidentally, Coach Toshi also coached Robyn Ah Mow and Logan Tom, who are past and current members of the U. S. Women's National team).  Coach Toshi is now coaching  the Pioneer Red Wings, a professional women's volleyball team in Japan.  Coach Yoshida was accompanied by his wife Shoko, who is an Olympic gold medalist.

Jammers 12 Red Win the Gold at Ho'oikaika

Our youngest Jammers, Jammers 12 Red, won the gold medal at the 2008 Ho'oikaika tournament in Kauai.  Jammers triumphed over twelve teams in the 12-under division.  The team is coached by Francis Keeno.  For the last 8 years, Jammers has sent its youngest team to this tournament.  For many of our players, it is their first time travelling to play volleyball in another venue.  Great work Mia, Madison, Roina, Melia, Lyndsey, Emmalani, and Kamalani.    A special Mahalo to Coach Francis for once again taking our youngest team to the tournament!

Jammers 12s, 13s, and 17s are Qualified for JO's!

April, 2008
Jammers 17s won the Aloha Region national bid for Junior Olympics.  This will be sixth consecutive Junior Olympic tournament for the core of the team which have been Jammers since they were 10 or 11 years old.
March 16, 2008
In an exhausting weekend for Jammers VBC, Jammers 12 Black and Jammers 13 Black qualified for the USAV Junior Olympics in the middle of March.  Jammers 12 suffered an early morning jitters loss in their first match against Kaulukoa Black.  Jammers 12 were successful in their next two matches.  Jammers 12 Black played Kaulukoa Black for a second time and gave Kaulukoa Black their first loss of the day.  In the double elimination tournament, the two teams were tied and played a sudden death, winner take all one set match to 25.  Jammers 12 black showed poise and consistency to win the tournament.

Jammers 13s played without losing a single set in the JO bid tournament for the Aloha Region 13s bid to the Junior Olympics.  Because the tournament was double elimination, Jammers 13 black had to defeat OVC Kainoa twice.  The core of Jammers 13 black were the gold medalists at the 2007 Junior Olympics in the 12-under division.

Jammers 13 red made it to the semi-finals of the tournament after being one of only two teams with one loss.  Unfortunately, their setter tweaked her ankle and was not able to play in the semifinals.  Jammers 13 Red ended in 3rd place in the tournament.

Jammers 14s ended in 2nd place after an exhausting tournament.  They were undefeated up to the finals of the competition.  Because the tournament was double elimination, it was necessary to play Maunalani 14s a second time.  Maunalani 14s swept Jammers 14s in their second match of the day.  The tied teams then played a sudden death single set match to 25, which was won by Maunalani 14s.

Jammers 17s played in the Colorado Crossroads national qualifier.  They won the bronze in 17s Open.

The USAV Junior Olympics will be held in Dallas, TX, beginning at the end of June and extending through early July.

Jammers 13 Black with their Gold Volleyball Trophy

Congratulations to all Jammers who competed in week one of the Pacific Northwest Qualifier in eastern Washington.

Jammers 13 Black won the Gold medal.  Jammers 13 Black dropped only one set in three days of tough competition.  This is the second Junior Olympic bid tournament the team have won in one week.  Their next mainland appearance will be at the USAV Junior Olympics in Dallas, TX, at the end of June.

Jammers 13 Red performed valiantly, tying for third place in the Silver bracket in the 13 Under division.

Jammers 14 competed in OPEN and ended in 2nd place in Flight 1, 6th place overall.  For point of reference, there were 18 14U teams in OPEN (the more competitive division) and 45 teams in Club.

Jammers 15s competed in OPEN and ended tied for 3rd place in Flight 2, 11th place overall.  For reference, there were 16 15U teams in Open and 44 teams in Club.

Thank you to the parents and coaches who worked just as hard as the girls did!
