10-5-09 Softball Booster Club Minutes
7:10 Meeting called to order
Jon Burkhardt called meeting to order and last month’s minutes were not available for approval due to Kelly Holloway’s absence.
Francis Weihing addressed banking which currently has $8585.00 in checking account. Coach Larriba gave Francis checks for letter fundraiser. Currently 1800.00 in checks has come in and $1700.00 on internet from credit cards.
Cathy Hawes- Mona Simpson with Athletic Bling will join us for cook off lunch in January with spirit wear items to be ordered and displayed; profit from sales of shirts will be given from Mona to booster club. Fall softball shirts were given out and players/parents were very pleased. Invoice to Diane has been taken care of.
Field Work: Coach Larriba is waiting on money to see what he can purchase and details to follow once amount is known.Golf Tournament- As of today, only 5 foursome have been signed up. Emails to go out from Jon Burkhardt to remind families to get friends signed up so this will be a successful event. Cathy will start going out and getting raffle items donated. All were encouraged to go out and get items.Coach Larriba will also send out letter to get golfers.
Fundraiser from players- Fundraiser to run 6 weeks has gone great so far, checks coming in daily. Performance Course- Starts in November. Will have more information at next booster meeting.
Concession- Volunteers are needed. Jackie Passafiume will run concessions but needs a team parent leader from JV and Varsity. Hope to have parents sign up at kick off lunch once teams are announced. Jackie will head concessions but team leaders are a must. Announcer is needed for home games. Email to go out asking for a volunteer to announce and audio as well. Audio will be music and walk up songs for teams.
Alumni Game is January 2, 2010. Have 14 committed to play. 2 hour clinic before with elementary grades, $10.charge, free admission to alumni game, autograph book. Lots of fun and more to come.
Tailgating- October 23rd against Southlake. Tailgating will be over near concession stand for softball. All are welcomed and encouraged to join. Email to go out from Jon telling ALL about this event.
Bill Edwards suggested softball booster club donate hat and shirts to principal and asst. principals at high school. Someone mentioned that softball has yet to donate so Bill brought the issue up and all agree they will receive spirit items in spring to wear !!
JV Tournament- Bakersfield- February 25-27. Need parent help. All day tournament so put in your vacation time now from work…Saturday will move over to FMHS softball field. Cathy would like to sell a tournament shirt and low order to insure they will all sell. Topic was still up for discussion in regards to shirts.
Kick Off Lunch is January 30th from 2-5 at Flower Mound Community Center. Pot luck with chili, gumbo, jambalaya, etc… Each family will be asked to send in various food, drinks, dessert, etc… to make sure this is a success. Email with request will go out in January once teams are made.
Program- Janet Boeckstiegel works for a printing company that could do a much scaled down program, spiral bound, hard back, each player would be responsible for layout and artwork of their page, minimal price per page for player, optional to player to be in program. Will have team pictures included there would be no selling of advertisement from businesses. Meeting in November Janet will provide pricing and a sample version.Outfield Signs- Jon handed out forms to take to local businesses for advertising with sign. Cathy will call Fast Signs of Lewisville and check on pricing. Coach Larriba mentioned he would like to get away from the typical 48x96 wood sign and look into wind signs. Coach to provide more information to all on this type of sign.
