Storm Roars Back at Play the Turf Tournament

After a tough late-inning loss to the Edge Baseball Club on Friday night, the Storm rode some excellent pitching performances to become Play the Turf Champions at Lenz Sports Complex in Jacksonville.

Late Saturday evening, Storm pitchers tossed a combined no hitter in the team's last game of pool play...Zeke, Ryan L., and Blake polished off New Lenox and the momentum carried over to Sunday's elimination round.

In the Storm's first game of the day, Blake overmatched Heat hitters for much of Sunday's 10-4 quarterfinal win. Then in a 13-0 semifinal victory over top-seeded Oak Lawn, Tyler tossed the Storm's second no-no to propel the team into a championship matchup with the Orland Park Magic. Orland Park arrived in the title game via a no-hit gem of their own, 2-0 over very tough Edge Baseball Club of Naperville.

The Storm jumped on top in the first inning of the championship game and never looked back. Zeke shut down the Magic offense with a complete 7 inning masterpiece in which he allowed just two hits.  Final score - Storm 7, Magic 0.

Storm Captures Championship at Rochester

The Storm backed a 13 run barrage in the semifinal with 14 more runs in the championship game to bring home 1st place at the Rochester Early Bird Baseball Buffet.   The Storm's first championship of 2009 was a total team effort with several players contributing big hits or timely defensive plays.

The Storm are back in action this Friday night at Lenz Sports Complex vs. The Edge Baseball Club (Naperville).  Pool A should be very tough...we're looking forward to the challenge!
