February 2009 - Coaching and Officiating Clinic Attendance Required starting 2009-10

In January, the USA Hockey Inline Hockey Section met in Orlando, FL as part of the USA Hockey Winter Meetings. The Inline Hockey Section, made up of volunteers from various aspects of the industry (i.e. league directors, coaches, referees, etc.), provides guidance and governance over the inline hockey department. During this meeting the Inline Hockey Section finalized the approval of mandatory coaching and officiating clinics as part of the registration process starting with the 2009-10 season. This means for a coach to participate in games or practices, they will have to at least obtain the Coaching Education Program (CEP) Level 1 certification. For referees, besides completing the open book exam online, they will be required to attend a 4-6 hour seminar. More details will be finalized and available regarding logistics along with a listing of approved coaching and officiating clinics in the near future.
