     Senior left-handed pitcher Ed Macaluso has verbally committed to attend Iona College in the fall of 2010 on a baseball scholarship.  Iona is a Division 1 school in New Rochelle, NY and competes in the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference. He choose Iona from among a handful of excellent offers and will join former teammates Chris Burke (2008), Tom Kriss (2009) and Matt Kriss (2009) next year. The entire program wishes him the best of luck in the future.

     Junior Ed Macaluso added to his impressive collection of awards and post-season honors this week as he was named to the NY State Class A All-State Team by the New York State Sportswriters Association.  He had already received All-League, All-County and the Suffolk County Playoff MVP from the Suffolk County Coaches Association and was awarded the Islip Baseball Team MVP, Pitcher of the Year and Playoff MVP at the teams first ever awards dinner on June 29th.  Ed became the fourth player under Coach Blumenauer to receive the All-State Honor.  Past recipients include Paul Nieves (2004), Chris Burke (2006, 2007 and 2008) and Robert Rogers (2007 and 2008).
