November 2012
Section XI recently announced the release of all new league alignments for the Suffolk County high school baseball teams and also released the 2012 Spring schedules. League alignments will be broken down completely based on classifications and their will no longer be any mixed classification leagues. In 2011 Islip was in a mixed classification league and played schools both A and AA-sized schools, which enabled them to petition to be included in the playoffs despite their 7 and 11 league record. This will no longer be the case and all playoff teams will have to qualify with an 11 and 9 record.
This spring the Bucs will play in League VI (believed to be the first time ever in school history) and will play schools of only A classification. Their opponents will be familiar foes Miller Place, Rocky Point, Harborfields, Westhampton and Sayville, all of whom the Bucs have played in League V or playoff action in recent years. The schedule will feature 20 league games, as they will play each team four times and wil not play any non-league games. They will play each team one time to open up the season and then will play them all in a traditional three game series in the following weeks.
The Bucs will open up with Harborfields on March 26th at Harborfields High School.
