The New Brunswick - Prince Edward Island Major Midget AAA League was formed in 2002-03.  The league consists of six teams from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.  The four teams from New Brunswick are the Fredericton Canadiens, St. John Vito's, Miramichi Rivermen and the Monton Flyers.  The two teams from Prince Edward Island are the Cornwall Thunder and the Charlottetown Mark's Work Wearhouse Islanders.

The six teams play 35 games during the regular season followed by playoffs.  The playoff format consists of the four New Brunswick teams being seeded first thru fourth based on the final regular season standings.  They then play a best of seven series (1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd) with the two winners playing a best of seven series for the provincial championship.  The winner of the championship series advances to the Atlantic Championships as the representative of New Brunswick.

The two teams from Prince Edward Island participate in the 35 game regular season with the New Brunswick Teams.  At the conclusion of the regular season the Island Team finishing higher in the standings will open the best 4 0f 7 playoffs at home for the Provincial Championship and the opportunity to represent Prince Edward Island at the Atlantic Championships.
