Middletown Youth Football & Cheerleading has been operating in Middletown for over 40 years. Formerly known as Middletown Youth Football, the Cheerleading was officially added to our name in 1998.
1993: Jr PeeWee football division started.
1994: Jr PeeWee cheer division started.
1999: Flag football division started.
2000: Mitey-Mite football division started.
2001: Web site developed. Flag team undefeated. Reinstated the annual Awards Banquet with Dinner. 352 people attended.
2002: Mitey-Mite cheer team started.
Jr PeeWee Cheer team placed third in the NERI cheer competition. Participated in the first NERI/SWRI state competition. Team competed in the New England Regional Cheer Championship in Worcester.
Flag football team undefeated. Banquet was attended by 511 people!
2003: Jr Midget Cheer team placed 1st in the NERI Cheer Competition.
Jr PeeWee Cheer team placed 2nd in the NERI Cheer Competition. Jr Midget Cheer team placed 2nd in the NERI/SWRI state competition.
Both cheer teams competed in the New England Regional Championships in New Hampshire. Annual award banquet held in February 2004. Over 500 people attended.
2004: Flag Cheer division started. Jr PeeWee, PeeWee and Midget Cheer Teams placed 2nd in the NERI cheer competition. Jr Midget cheer team placed 3rd in the NERI cheer competition and won the Spirit Award. All 4 cheer teams competed in the New England Regional Championships at URI Ryan Center. Jr Midget football team made it to playoffs.
Even with an oncoming blizzard, the annual award ceremony and banquet was attended by 503 people!
2005: Jr PeeWee and PeeWee Cheer teams took 1st place at the SENE cheer competition. Jr Midget cheer placed 2nd. Flag cheer team did an amazing exhibition at the SENE competition. Jr PeeWee, PeeWee and Jr Midget cheer teams competed at the New England Regional Cheer Competition with the PeeWee cheer team taking home a 5th place trophy! Jr Midget Football team advanced to 2nd round of playoffs. The annual award ceremony was attended by almost 500 people!
2006: PeeWee football team ended the season 6-1-1 - made it to 1st round of playoffs losing to New Bedford. The Jr PeeWee and Jr Midget cheer teams placed at the state cheer competition and went on to compete at the New England Regional Cheer Competition. As in past years our annual award ceremony was attended by almost 500 people!
2007: Jr PeeWee football team made it to 1st round of playoffs. PeeWee football team was undefeated and made it all the way to the state championship losing to Mt. Hope. This ended their season as a RISMA state championship finalist. The Jr Midget cheer team was the state champions and went on to compete at the New England Regional cheer competition. Ten new associations joined the RISMA conference. Middletown was placed in the East Division. Our annual award ceremony had less attendance than in past years, but was still over 300 people!
2008: Jr PeeWee and Jr Midget football teams had an amazing season. Both teams made it to the 2nd round of playoffs. Both football teams were division champions - undefeated in their division. Cheer teams did not place at their competition, but performed outstanding! PeeWee, Flag and Mitey-Mite football had a great season!
