John D. Costine
After a 15 years playing rugby for the Monmouth Rugby Club, John D. Costine looked for a new challenge in life. He found it in the sport of triathlon/adventure racing. He is a 2 time Ironman finisher and has participated in over 100 major road races, adventure races, triathlons, biathlons and mountain bike races around the US. In 2000 he joined TNT and participated in the Mrs. Ts triathlon, raising $8000.00 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He then went on to become a mentor and assistant coach.
In 2002 he formed the Iron Club Tri Team, a group of athletes who not only were linked by their love of multisports, but also by having a conscience. He recruited most of the founding members from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Johns vision for the club is to help all those interested in the sport, expand the club on an international level. Presently the Iron Club has members in North and South America.
The greatest racing moment for John was after completing the 2003 Ironman USA. His daughter Madeleine, then 4 hugged him and told him she loved him and was proud of him.
Hes now an Irondad.

Dr. Wayne Warrington
Wayne Warrington is a 34 year old Emergency Medicine Resident originally from Ocean City, NJ. Currently living in Weschester County, NY, he fell in love with the sport of triathlon after finishing his first Olympic Distance race with Team in Training in 2001 in honor of his mother, Janet, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 1997 and continues to remain in remission. "She is a terrific example of Iron will and perseverance and is a true inspiration in my life". After raising over $15,000 for cancer research in his first attempt in 2001, Wayne surpassed that mark 3 fold by raising over $45,000 for the Jake and Jared Warrington Educational Fund at IronMan USA in Lake Placid this past July. "Completing such a barbaric task as IronMan should never go unnoticed and is a perfect opportunity to make a difference for a charitable cause and influence attitudes of those around you." Wayne completed IronMan USA 2004 and 2005 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and again raised over $35,000 for cancer research and patient services

Jim McGoldrick
Just like everyone else in the sport, watched the Julie Moss melt down in the Hawaii Ironman of 1983 on ABCs Wild World of Sports, but did not start doing triathlons until 1997, after reading an article in a mens fitness magazine which said that most triathlons are not ironman distance. Over the past six years, has completed numerous sprint distance triathlons and duathlons, one Olympic distance triathlon, two half-ironmans, and six marathons, including qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2003. This past year, completed his first Ironman in Lake Placid, New York. Not learning from the experience, he will be training for and competing in the Florida Ironman in 2004.

Anticipated Races for 2004
St. Anthonys Triathlon April 25, 2004 (Olympic Tri). I have not looked beyond that at this point. Potentially looking @ Macons Gas ½ iron man.
I continue to donate my spare time and efforts to one community organization, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Societys Team in Training (TNT) program. The Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma (blood related cancers), and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
This past year he was able raise over $5,700 w/my wife from many generous donations, while participating in the Walt Disney World Marathon, on January 11, 2004. I have been part of the Leukemia Society since 1997, and have raised more than $15,000 in four different events over that time.
Normally, he would take a year off, at this point, from fundraising. He has done much of his fundraising this year through co-workers, friends and family and doesnt like to "go to the well" that often, so rather than staying inactive for the year, he has decided to sign up for another event. For this challenge he is organizing a golf outing, where 100-percent of the profits will go to the Leukemia Society.
Having lost a dear friend to Hodgkins disease in 1998, I will continue to participate with the Leukemia Society in his memory. It really is amazing to listen to patients survival stories and what they go through. It makes your event (century, triathlon, or marathon) feel like a walk in the park, said Chris.
To find out more information on how you can participate or help, Log onto to the Leukemia Societies website, http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.

Bryan, Jeremy and Luke
Bryan Whalen, Jeremy Santiago and Luke Conticchio have been best friends since the 2nd grade. They have been called
the Three Musketeers, Three Caballeros, Three Stooges but are best know as Three Best Friends.
The "boys" have participated side by side in the last three State Special Olympics held in Trenton at the College of New Jersey. Each year their excitement grows in anticipation of the "big" Special Olympics weekend. Months before the games they are hard at work practicing under the guidance of their Coach Joe Conticchio (Luke's Dad). All three participate in the Track & Field events, the softball toss, 50 meter (Bryan and Jeremy) 100 meter (Luke). Regardless of their standings each came away a winner and celebrated with high fives and hugs for one another. Of course they also look forward to the weekend stay at the College, the opening ceremonies,
fireworks, dances and the various games and activities throughout the weekend.
Participating in the Special Olympics has given the "boys" the opportunity to learn what it means to be a team player and to share in each other accomplishments. They have learned while it is great to win first place - finishing is more important and supporting each other makes you a first place winner every time.
Bryan, Luke and Jeremy look forward to many more years of participating in the Special Olympics and perhaps one day moving up to the "World Olympics", but in the meantime, they have one another and thankfully the Special Olympic Committee who give our Special Needs Athletes the opportunity to shine.
